Dear Family Fairfax,

A beautiful end to an in-person week!  We welcomed back into the building many 10th and 11th grade students,  and started a new tradition--Class Hallways.  Our plan is to give a hallway to seniors each year, and we will have them paint inspirational messages, goodbyes for the students to come.  We know we will run out of space over the years, but it will be a great tradition for our seniors to leave their mark.  Please make sure to sign up for Senior Brick Painting and PTSA hosting Senior Celebrations on Friday, March 19th.  Please ask your seniors to check their fcpsschools.net email account from Mrs. Im.

I have an email set to go on Monday to the Class of 2021.  It is a graphic of various events, and as guidelines firm up, we will add more.

We have a lot to celebrate--please continue reading below my message to learn about our outstanding DECA awards and accolades!  These students were amazing, and we are so proud to call them Fairfax’s.

I was thrilled to hear about the tremendous efforts of our eSports team this year.  Mr. Greene, their sponsor, shared that the club is the largest at Fairfax with over 130 members and as of Thursday--we were undefeated.  I appreciate hearing the success stories of all the ways our students feel included and find value.

Speaking of included, our PTSA will have their virtual meeting on Tuesday.  Please join in to learn more about the efforts of our parents to maintain community and other ways you can get involved if you are able.  More than ever, this is the year it is taking all of us to keep Fairfax a family.

We will have our Field Hockey Senior Recognition on March 17th---so green is off limits that night--We are ALL BLUE!

Don’t forget to Spring Forward this weekend!

All the best,

Erin

Virtual Sophomore Planning for College Night

Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 6:30PM

Presenter: Erin Slater, Director of Admissions, Randolph-Macon College

Events about planning to attend a two-year college, which is often Northern Virginia Community College for our students, and financial aid will be offered at later dates.

Note: The registration link for this event has been sent to all FHS Class of 2023 students’ fcpsschools.net email accounts, and posted in the “Class of 2023-Student Services” Google Classroom.

The FHS PTSA is continuing our search for parents to serve on the Board for the 2021 - 2022 school year.

We are particularly in need of a:

  • Treasurer - preferably someone with an accounting/finance background who is comfortable balancing books
  • President who is able to direct our agenda and lead our meetings
  • Two Vice President positions to assist the President.
  • We have interested candidates for Hospitality and Membership who would love to have a partner to work with if you are the type of person who prefers to work as a team

Our goal is to have the Board reflect the diversity of our school community and classrooms.  Meetings are currently on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (virtually until we resume in person meetings).  Please contact Heather Rupp jetsn22@verizon.net or Wendy Everard wendy.everard@gmail.com for more information.

Tech Update

Did you know? To get the most recent updates on your FCPS computer, including the StudentDen icon, you can pull up to the nearest FCPS building (Elementary, Middle, or High school) and restart your computer.  Once it reboots, you will want to log in, let it stay on the network for ten minutes (you can be using it during that time).

After ten minutes, you will want to Restart (not close the lid) so the updates will install.

If this doesn’t update your Student Den Icon for whatever reason, here is the direct link to the Student den.
