Cav Winter Varsity Sports Updates

Varsity Field Hockey

Woodson Cavaliers vs Mt Vernon Majors, MARCH 3, 2021

Evening temperatures were chilly as the Woodson Varsity field hockey team traveled to the Mt Vernon Majors, but no one paid any attention.  Sitting in the stands that night as the girls did their warm-ups; hearing the crack of sticks and seeing familiar faces, albeit covered by masks and socially distanced, provided an excitement that relegated the temperature to an afterthought.  It seemed more than fifteen months indicated by the calendar since the final competitive match of the 2019 season.  It was an understatement to say everyone was thrilled with the return of Woodson Field Hockey.  A short, shrill whistle began the season with Woodson immediately on the front foot.  The first attack began off the stick of Allie Maahs to Elizabeth Stribling with a drive down the visitors' sideline.  Katie Williams eventually found Gwyneth Durosko for a tap-in goal.  Williams then provided the assist to add Stribling’s point to the scoresheet. Elia Kim showed her defensive strength making two interceptions off Mt Vernon free hits.  Zoe Hite fearlessly attacked and scored the third Cavalier goal.  Audrey Fisher led an aggressive and energized midfield.  Kyleigh Poot organized the back line and covered for her defenders.  In the end, Woodson was on-top 3-0.  The team is captained by seniors: Gwyneth Durosko, Zoe Hite, Allie Maahs, and Katie Williams.  Two freshmen join the Varsity team this season including Julia Oleyar and Alex Walrath.  Go Cavaliers!

Varsity Boys Cross Country and Track and Field

Our Cav Tony Emil competed and was crowned State Champion in High Jump.  Our 4x800m Girls team took 2nd at States with Caroline Jones, Paige, Josie, and Caroline Poole after having to run TWICE under very unusual circumstances.

Woodson Cross Country last Thursday competed on a course at South County on a very windy day.

Girls competitors Levi, Hammond, Gibbons, Rumbaugh, Yi, Cronin, Avera, Weston, and Hadikusumo completed the course for the Cavs.

Boys competitors Marvin, McLeese, Smith, Rade, Loomis, Namez, Hite, Bazemore, Conway, Byman, Ho , Duong, and Job completed the course for the Cavs.

Varsity Football

The Football team has begun action this season, so far playing against Annandale Away and South County at Home.

The Cav Seniors and their families were honored for their hard work and dedication this past Friday night at Pat Cunningham Stadium, aka The Pat.

Thank you Xavier Barry, Zack Chambers, Nico Zamora, Adam Ely, Alex Kim, Anthony Meaders, Andrew Mpalang, Ben Auer, Bradley Brewington, Caiden Pastian, Carlos Salama, Collin Wilson, Connor Stackiewicz, Gavin Danek, John Quigley, Jon Clanor, Matt Kim, Max Weiss, David Wu, Mikey D’Alessandro, Moe Raff, Noel Roh, Nathan Allison, Sean Duble, and Will McCormack for all of your efforts representing the Cavs.

Varsity Dance Team

Our Cav Varsity Dance Team Senior members and families were honored this past Friday night at the Woodson-South County football game at The Pat.  Thank you so much to the following Seniors for the dedication and commitment in the Dance Team Program through the years: Emmah McCollum, Olivia Hurlebaus, Loryn Anderson, Danielle Gipson, Erica Park, Gracie Gelman, and Eve McGuire.

Varsity Cheer

Cav Varsity Cheerleading celebrated the efforts of the Cheer Team and their families this past Friday night at The Pat with Senior Appreciation Night.  We salute and thank Seniors Kayla Koldys and Jill Brennan!

  • reduce their log-in time.
  • access bookmarks and extensions across devices.

Chrome will remember and offer saved passwords when students are logging into different instructional applications. Chrome will also make bookmarks and extensions available on any device in which the student logs into Chrome and turns on Sync.
