Return-to-School Town Halls Conclude Next Wednesday with Grades 3 – 6 Session
We are looking forward to welcoming more little lions back to our building next Tuesday, when grades 1 and 2 return.
The rest of our in-person students will return the following week on March 16th. Lane will host a return-to-school virtual orientation for those families from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10th. The BBCU link for the session is https://us.bbcollab.com/guest/3302c942e13c4c41be63cca84a5469ef.
If you weren't able to attend the session for first and second grade, you can view a recording here: Lane ES: Return to School - recording_2.
Return-to-School Foodservice: Breakfast and Lunch Provided to All Students, Menus Available Online
To ensure that all students enjoy a healthy breakfast and lunch safely at school when they return for in-person learning, all students will be provided with both meals at school free of charge for the remainder of the school year. Students will be eating in the classroom, not in the cafeteria.
You are welcome to send in a packed lunch for your child and feed him or her breakfast before leaving for school in the morning if you wish, but we wanted to make sure you knew that school meals will also be available.
If you’d like to see what the schools will be serving, visit https://fcps.nutrislice.com/menu/lane-elementary.

New Tech Support Protocols
With Return to School happening it has created a need for us to reflect on our technology-support practices. To better support the more recent mix of both in-person and virtual technology needs, we have made some technology-support adjustments.
We are streamlining our IT support system to better serve our Lane community. If you need help with your student’s laptop, account, or virtual learning, enter a “Student” support request ticket via the Parent and Student IT Portal.
Not able to log in to virtual learning?? For immediate scheduling, please call Kelly Tolley in the Main Office at 703-924-7700.
Calling All Kindergarteners for Next School Year!
Do you have a child who will enter kindergarten next year at Lane? Do you know of friends or neighbors who do? If so, we need your help!
A “Survey of Preschool Children” eligible for kindergarten enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year is currently being conducted. We request that parents of students eligible for kindergarten complete and return this survey to our school’s office. A child who will reach his or her fifth birthday on or before September 30, 2021, is eligible for kindergarten this coming fall.
Please return the survey by March 31st. You can fill it out online, save it as a PDF, and send it as an attachment to our registrar, Jami O’Hagan, at jjohagan@fcps.edu. You can also print and mail the form to the school or drop it off in person.
Please share this information with any parent of a rising kindergarten child in your neighborhood that may not have a child in our school and is not aware of this survey.
Thank you!
