- Deadline to sign-up for a club is this afternoon at 3:00pm

Students may sign up for ONE club ONLY. If you might have registered for more than one club, we ask that you please access the link for the extra club choices and remove yourself from that choice. This will ensure all our students have the opportunity to enjoy a club. Additionally, please be sure the club is for your grade level.
- Virtual clubs are scheduled to begin Monday, March 15th.
- The clubs have limited capacity and will require you to sign up via the Sign Up Genius links.
- Clubs will last for 4, 5, or 9 sessions.
- After you sign up, the specialist will reach out to you regarding any necessary information or supplies.
- Please email specific questions to the teacher leading the club.

Art Stories (K-2) 9:15-10:05
Create art inspired by children’s books. You may choose your art supplies to use; for example: paper, pencils, crayons, markers, construction paper, glue. (Please do not use your art sketchbook and watercolor set.)

Let’s create a variety of drawings together! You will need paper, pencil, sharpies, crayons, colored pencils-any tool that colors. Please do not use your art sketchbook.

Kindergarten Picture Book Club
The Kindergarten Picture Book Club will meet Mondays from 9:15am to 9:45am on March 15, March 22, April 12, April 19, and April 26. Mrs. Barham, Silverbrook librarian, will read aloud her favorite picture books. There will also be time for club members to share a favorite book by showing the cover, telling about the book, or reading one page to the club. We will meet in Mrs. Barham’s Google classroom. This club is open to first, second, and third graders who enjoy reading adventure/fantasy stories. We will read the first book in the Last Firehawk series. Book club members can buy their own books, check out the book from a Fairfax County Public Library, or get a copy from the Silverbrook library. Each club member will be asked to read one or two chapters a week. The chapters can also be read to the book club member. We will meet in Mrs. Barham's Google classroom to talk about the chapters. Survivor Diaries Book Club
This book club is open to second and third graders who enjoy reading adventure stories. We will read the book Survivor Diaries: Avalanche! by Terry Lynn Johnson. Members of the club will be asked to read 2 chapters per week, and we will meet to talk about the chapters. We will meet on the following Mondays from 10:15am to 10:45am: March 15, March 22, April 12, April 19, and April 26. Each book club member will need to have a copy of the book. The book can be checked out from the Silverbrook library or a Fairfax County Public Library. We will meet in Mrs. Barham’s Google classroom to talk about the chapters. The Virginia Readers’ Choice Realistic Fiction Book Club will meet Mondays from 11:15am to 11:45am on March 15, March 22, April 12, April 19, and April 26. This club is open to fourth, fifth, and sixth graders who enjoy reading realistic fiction. We will read Pay Attention, Carter Jones by Gary D. Schmidt. Book club members will need a copy of the book. Members can buy their own books, check out the book from a Fairfax County Public Library or get a copy from the Silverbrook library. Each club member will be asked to read three or four short chapters a week. The chapters can also be read to the book club member. 9:15-10:10 – WSES Morning News Crew (6th Grade, no class size limit)
Be featured on the WSES Morning News Show by recording your introductions and other daily reports. Mrs. McCay will give instructions on where and how to upload your videos to be included in the News Show from 9:15-10:15 every Monday.
10:15-11:10 – Young Glory VA (All grades, no class size limit)
Please help Mrs. McCay learn about the rules of rugby and the local national rugby team – Old Glory DC! Mr. McCay works in the Old Glory DC front office, so we may even be able to schedule interviews with its players or coaches. All ages and experience with rugby are welcome from 10:15-11:10 am on Mondays. Mrs. McCay will be learning with you!

All these clubs will require parents to sign a form to check out and return the tech device. Mrs. Lajin will contact you about picking up and returning the devices. If there are siblings that are the proper age for the same club, they may sign up together and share a device.
OZOBOT Club: 9:15-10:05am (3-5th Graders) -8 participants
Learn how to code a robot to maneuver a Mars Rover and Choice Challenge. You will need to provide blank white paper, and markers that work well in the following colors: red, black, blue, green. Additionally, please provide tape, misc. art supplies and upcycled materials. More details will be provided after sign-up.
MAKEY MAKEYS: 10:15-11:05pm (K-2nd Graders) -15 participants
Learn how to set up, explore, and create with makey makeys. We will create homemade instruments and have a choice challenge. You need to provide play doh, tape, misc. art supplies and upcycled materials. More details will be provided after sign-up.
MICRO: BITS, SCRATCH, & BOTS: 11:15-12:15pm (5-6th Graders) -6 participants
Learn how to combine coding in Scratch to program a micro: bit. Use LED circuits and hobby motors to create your own moving bot.
Mrs. Lajin will contact you after sign-up to schedule a quick appointment with Mr. Chinn to get the Micro: bit software installed on your computer. You need to provide masking or electrical tape, misc. art supplies and upcycled materials. More details will be provided after sign-up.
