1.Bus Schedule Information for grades 1 through 6

Parents/guardians of students in grades 1 through 6 will not receive direct notification from FCPS Transportation regarding bus schedules.  Instead, parents/guardians can find their children’s transportation information in their SIS ParentVUE accounts.  Once you log in, click on Student Info in the menu on the left, and scroll down to Transportation.  The information listed will be the FVES Bus route number, times of pick up and drop off, and bus stop location.

If you requested that your child be added to a bus or there has been a change in the days he/she is attending, please allow 5 days for any additions or changes to be made to the schedule.

Additionally, please feel free to call the Fairfax Villa office between 8:45 am - 4:45 pm (703-267-2800) if you are unable to find your child’s transportation details.

There will be no direct instruction or morning meeting on these days. These days will be used as teacher preparation days as we continue to plan for the return to school.

Art Materials

If your child is coming to school in person on a day that they have art, they should bring their school provided art kit in the Ziploc bag.  This contains a sketchbook and watercolors, along with a pencil, scissors, glue, and crayons or colored pencils. If students never picked up their school provided art kit from the school, please contact Ms. Paramore (drparamore@fcps.edu).

3.FCPS Covid-19 Update

There has been an update on how families are notified about a potential exposure to Covid-19 in a classroom.  While the notification process will be generally the same as the one FCPS used in the fall, the Fairfax County Health Department will now determine which students and/or staff have potentially been exposed and needs to return to a virtual setting pending contact tracing.

This return to a virtual learning setting will last until the Health Department completes contact tracing. Any students and/or staff directed by local health officials to quarantine will need to follow Health Department guidance.

4.Employment Opportunities at Fairfax Villa: Classroom Monitors

Fairfax Villa ES is looking for a classroom monitor to provide in-person classroom assistance for students when some staff members continue to work virtually. 6.Health Screening Commitment Form Required Prior to Student Return to School Buildings

As many students return to in-person instruction, parents and caregivers will be asked to acknowledge a Health Screening Commitment form before their student(s) re-enter school buildings. This document confirms that a parent, caregiver, or guardian will complete a daily health screening and will keep their students home when they are ill.

The Health Commitment form can be submitted electronically through ParentVUE (PVUE) or via hard copy. Please contact your child’s school to have a hard copy sent to you.

7.Lunchboxes Now Allowed

As of March 3, lunchboxes are NOW allowed.  Students will need to put them back inside their backpacks after lunch.

8.Video: FCPS Is Ready to Return

The School Board has given its support  and FCPS' health and safety plans are tested and in place for students to return to the classroom. Watch the video on Return to School.

9.Read Across America Challenge

Fairfax Villa students are taking part in a schoolwide challenge to read in myOn from March 2nd to April 6th. The grade with the most minutes will get to choose the theme for an upcoming spirit day! Let’s go, Villa Dragons! Show us how much you can read!

10.Kindergarten Enrollment for the 2021-2022 School Year

We need your help in projecting the Kindergarten enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year. Virginia Law, section 22.1-254, requires that children who will reach their fifth birthday on or before September 30, 2021, must be enrolled in Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year unless the parent or guardian notifies the school in writing that they do not wish the child to attend school until the following year.

If you have a child who will be five years old on or before September 30, 2021, please fill out the form at https://fairfaxvillaes.fcps.edu/student-services/new-student-registration no later than March 15, 2021.

If any of your neighbors have children who will be eligible for Kindergarten, please share this information with them, as we are especially interested in reaching those Fairfax Villa families who do not have children currently attending our school.

Please email any questions to Silvia Dossmann, Student Information Assistant, at smdossmann@fcps.edu.

11.Positivity Character Trait for March 8-12: SOCIAL INTELLIGENCE

What does SOCIAL INTELLIGENCE mean? Social intelligence refers to a person’s ability to understand and manage interpersonal relationships. It is distinct from a person’s IQ or “book smarts.” It includes an individual’s ability to understand, and act on, the feelings, thoughts, and behaviors of other people.Examples of social intelligence include knowing when to talk or listen, what to say, and what to do.

WHY DOES IT MATTER? Social intelligence helps individuals build relationships – and is important to numerous aspects of a person’s life. It allows an individual to form friendships and alliances. And, it assists a person against being taken advantage of. People with social intelligence can “read” other people’s faces and know what motivates them. Social intelligence builds over time and as a person ages. In this sense, it is similar to the character strength of perspective.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
