- 5th: 2-hour Early Release

- 16th & 17th Quarter 3 Asynchronous Catch-Up Days
- 26th End of Third Quarter – 2-hour Early Release
- 29th- 4/2 Holiday (Spring Break)
Dear Families,
It’s March! We are so LUCKY to have our in-person students returning. Hats off to all of our families who prepared our 8th graders for such a smooth return. We know there were smiles behind those masks. For any student attending in-person, please help them to remember to bring charged laptops, chargers, and earbuds/headphones each day. For families that are continuing to request a change to in-person instruction, counselors will be in touch about our procedures. For all students on days they attend virtually, please remember we are encouraging more camera time to build a stronger sense of community between all of the students.
With in-person attendance now being fully operational, please remember if your child should be at LMS and is remaining home, you will need to call us at 703-934-2400 and let us know he/she will be attending virtually. Of course, if students have any symptoms related to COVID, they will need to stay home, and you will need to let us know if they have been in-person during that time. Effective March 1st, a new attendance Return to School (RTS) code will be used. The SYC code will be used in situations when students who are scheduled to attend school in-person, but do not arrive at school, instead are attending online from home. If this happens, it is important to let the school know why they are at home instead of in-person.
As our 7th graders return this coming week, please be sure they have looked over their schedules and know the room numbers. We can help navigate them, but they will feel more confident if they have begun to look over the schedule.
Thanks for your continued support!
Enjoy the weekend,
Tammy Hanna

Should you want your student to opt out of testing this year (no penalty against the student), please complete this form by March 31, 2021. - Reading 8
- Science 8
- Math 7
- Math 8
*Algebra 1 (Verified Course Required for High School Graduation)
*Algebra 2 (Verified Course Required for High School Graduation)
*Geometry (Verified Course Required for High School Graduation)
*If your child decides to opt-out of Algebra 1, Algebra 2 or Geometry SOL tests for this spring, they WILL HAVE to take the appropriate SOL test in the Fall of 2021 either at Lanier (if your child is a rising 8th grade student) or at the high school your child will be attending (as a rising 9th grade student). If you have any questions, please contact our Dean/Testing Coordinator, Dr. Roger Baskin, at rsbaskin@fcps.edu.
