A Message from Ms. Jankovich

Happy Friday Sangster Families!

Hope everyone is having a good week.

This past week I met with 1st and 2nd grade parents for a Return to Learn meeting. One of the topics we discussed is the new breakfast program beginning at Sangster on March 16, 2021 for all students, free of charge this year.  If you haven’t already, please visit Nutri-slice website at https://fcps.nutrislice.com/  to find information about daily meals from what is being served to nutritional counts to specific allergies per item.  Please make sure that you click on the "All In-Person Learning Schools" button, as this is what will show what meals are being served each day at Sangster.   The breakfast choices will be the same each week:  Tuesday – Bagel with Juice and Milk, Wednesday – Mini Pancakes with Juice and Milk, Thursday – Apple Cinnamon Muffin Top with Juice and Milk, and Friday – Cinnamon Bun with Juice and Milk.  We are still working on details with how the breakfasts will be delivered to classrooms and will communicate that with you soon!

The Lake Braddock Pyramid is excited to announce our second pyramid-wide community meeting with all of the Lake Braddock Pyramid School Principals. This virtual meeting will be focused on building a stronger understanding of equity across the PreK – 12 learning continuum. During this conversation, you will learn more about the clearly defined and connected efforts of all eight schools within the pyramid in addressing equity-informed practices to ensure that all students feel welcome and that inclusion remains at the center of our work.

We plan to share our common approaches to achieve our goal and share specific strategies that each school has implemented to address the individual needs of our connected communities.  Please join us on March 23rd, at 6:30 – 8:00 P.M. to participate in the community discussion.

Please use the following link  to access the meeting:

We are looking forward to our continued partnership to keep equity at the center of our work, helping to lead each of our students to success.

Thank you,

Allison Jankovich,

Acting Principal

Positivity Project

Week of February 28

Zest and Enthusiasm

This week’s character strength is Zest and Enthusiasm. Those who possess this strength approach life with excitement and energy and energize people around them. This strength often leads to a higher level of involvement and engagement both for individuals and for groups. These people are often identified as early leaders and innovators as a result of their outward excitement about a task or project. People with enthusiasm and zest are happy, but this strength goes beyond happiness or pleasure. It is an activated positive energy, and associated with self- realization and autonomy. For individuals, zest and enthusiasm are easily identifiable and highly desirable personality traits. We feel good when we are energized by an activity or opportunity – and we like to spend time with people who are excited about life. Those who demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm are more likely to complete tasks and exceed minimum requirements as a result of their passion.

The site P2 For Families is available for connecting P2 to your home and you can learn more about the site here. Many of the slides are password protected and the password is P2 (case-sensitive).
