PTA Board Positions 2021-2022
The time has come to start looking for NEW PTA Board members! I implore you to consider joining this team. Working together and with the administration at Liberty has been a major bright spot in this past year. If you think "someone else will step-up," I am telling you they aren’t, or they won't. Be the one that steps-up. Middle School is such a brief but very important part of our students' growth. Each Board sets their own goals and that always takes into account what each Boards' resources are.
Please reach out to me if you are interested in hearing more or with ANY questions.

Celebrations for Read Across America Week may look different this year. However, the importance of keeping readers inspired has not changed. Fun activities at home and in school will bring excitement and joy to Read Across America Week.
Here are some ideas to foster fun and bring excitement to books:
- pick a favorite book to read aloud to your child,
- create a reader’s theater by acting out fun scenes from a book,
- invite a virtual mystery reader like grandparent, aunt, uncle, or older sibling,
- visit your favorite author website for a virtual author visit,
- virtually visit your neighborhood library for events,
- cuddle up to a good book at bedtime.
Another way to celebrate books is to share them with others. Buy a Book, Build a Future is Nathan Onibudo’s call to action to help others. Nathan is the Fairfax County School Board high school student representative. At a recent virtual meeting of business leaders, Nathan asked the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce to donate books to Fairfax County Public Schools. Whether you share gently used books, donate or buy books, take the time for yourself and to help others enjoy reading.

The Liberty Literary and Arts Magazine staff is accepting submissions for our annual publication. The publication is a showcase of Liberty’s student writing and artwork from the current school year. Anything that a student creates in any class, or that is created outside of school may be submitted if it is original student work produced this school year. The submission window lasts from now until the end of April.
We would love to showcase a diverse collection of poems, short stories, short personal responses, and reflections from this year, as well as artwork made from traditional materials and/or digitally. It’s a wonderful opportunity to be published! We prefer to receive submissions via our Google Classroom. The Google Classroom code is f7tekca, but we can accept work in any format. To complete the submission process, please fill out the permission form when attaching work in google classroom to grant permission to publish the work.
If you choose not to submit electronically, and/or you need to have your work photographed, please drop off your submissions to Mrs. Orr in room B126. Virtual students may either use Google Classroom to submit electronically or drop off their work, clearly labeled with their full name, to the main office.
