Virtual Career Day--We Need Your Help!
In lieu of Career Day, Junior Achievement Day, and Bring your Child to Work Day, we’re hosting a virtual Career Day! We want to offer an opportunity for our wider Columbia community to share more about their professions with our students via recorded video on Flipgrid. You'll need to log in with any Google or Microsoft account. (You can use your child's login, but aren't required to--see directions here.)
We'd love to hear from you! If you feel more comfortable speaking in a language other than English--no problem! We have many multilingual students in our school who would enjoy hearing from you. The video should be brief (max 3 minutes) and we invite you to use these questions as a guide:
- Please introduce yourself and provide a brief introduction.
- Explain your career using kid-friendly, age-appropriate language.
- What makes your job exciting?
- Share a fun fact about your profession.
- Share an obstacle you encountered and how you overcame it.
Please submit videos by March 12

New Laptop Rollout Continues
We have started giving out new laptops to our upper grade students. Today I spoke with Mr. Gildea and Miss O'Connell's classes, who can now sign up for laptop pickups (more dates coming). Please sign up if you are remaining virtual and you:
- Have an FCPS laptop currently that has not been replaced with a new model in the last month OR
- Do not have an FCPS laptop currently but would like one
Please bring your old laptop and charger at the time of your appointment to the door by the library.
Note: For those students who will be coming in person, we can do the swap then. First-time checkouts for laptops do require parental signatures, however so please contact me.
