LTES Return to School Information

return to school

Dear London Towne Families,

We cannot wait to see your lions when school comes back to the Towne!  Thank you for your trust in us as we resume in-person learning.  As lions, we will take care of each other and stop the spread by wearing our masks, washing our hands, keeping our distance, and cleaning our area.

Schedules

Our new bell schedule starts Tuesday, February 16 for all students.  We are going later!  School starts at 9:00 a.m.  When your child returns to in-person learning, we are unable to open our doors before 8:45 a.m. because we are not staffed to supervise students before then.  Please come to the Towne after 8:45 a.m. to drop off in-person students.

First bell: 8:45 a.m.  |  School starts: 9:00 a.m. |  Dismissal: 3:30 p.m.

In-Person Learning Days

In-Person Students were assigned to either Tuesday/Wednesday or Thursday/Friday.  As much as possible, family groups were assigned to the same days for in-person learning. You may view your child’s assigned days in ParentVUE. Classroom teachers will confirm your child’s days prior to your child’s start date.  If you have questions about your child’s scheduled days, please call the main office to speak with an administrator.  If you haven’t already accessed ParentVUE, here is a how-to video

Health Screening Form & Masks

FCPS is asking that each family help stop the spread by signing the Parent/Guardian Health Screening Commitment Form.  This form asks that if your child is sick or feeling unwell with the symptoms consistent with COVID-19 that you keep them home.  Please see the form for more details.

We are asking that families send an extra mask with their child to school.  Please store the mask in a plastic bag in your child’s backpack should they need to change masks during the course of the day.

Transportation | Arrival and Dismissal

In the morning, Kinder Walkers, please come to Door 4 near the modular. At dismissal, Kinder Walkers are picked up at the Library Door.

Grades 1-6 Walkers, please come to Door 3 near the playground during arrival and dismissal.

Bus Routes will be communicated as soon as they are available from FCPS transportation, as well as be available to view in ParentVue.  Transportation has been hard at work creating new bus routes to ensure that our buses follow safety guidelines for social distancing.  Because they are creating new bus routes and have new cleaning and disinfecting routines, please be patient as times may adjust on the bus routes.   Be sure to be at the bus stop at least 5 minutes ahead of the scheduled bus stop time.

Our Kiss & Ride lane is very busy. This year we will accommodate arrival and dismissal for SRS/SACC, pick up for grab & go meals, and have drop off at Kiss & Ride all at the same time.  All traffic into our Kiss & Ride lane must turn right off of Billingsgate Lane.  SRS will use the side/modular parking lot for arrival and dismissal. Please allow cars to enter the main parking lot from the side/modular parking lot.

Additional information about our Kiss & Ride Lane can be found in Schoology on our school page.   Please call the main office at 703 227 5405 if you have questions or need a Kiss & Ride number.

Please note: LTES staff may turn left into the parking lot at all times.

Technology & Supplies

Please make sure that your child is bringing their laptop and charger with them to school each day.  Also, please make sure that the laptop is fully charged each morning before school. At the end of the day, your child needs to fully shut down the laptop (powered off, not just closed) to allow it to be fully updated.

Any other supplies will need to be stored in your child’s backpack and carried with them to and from school each day.

Medication

Will your child require medication while they are at school?  Please schedule an appointment with the front office so that we can complete the medication intake process.

Please contact Ms. Padmore, Ms. Moore, or Ms. Vigil if you have additional questions. Have a wonderful long weekend and see you at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.

Sincerely,

Leo the Lion
