Principal Message

Dear Marshall Road Families,

We are thrilled that the school board has approved the new Return to School Plan.  We are very excited to start bringing students back.  We know you are receiving a lot of information from FCPS, from us and from your child’s teacher.  We appreciate your communication.  Please know that we are doing our best to make the fewest changes possible but on some occasions, students may have to change teachers in the coming weeks.  There will also be times when your children will have a monitor covering the classroom from time to time.  We have hired some wonderful people to fill these roles at Marshall Road ES.  We  recognize that a lot is happening in a short period of time and we thank you for your ongoing support of our school community.  We are grateful for your partnership and we hope to see you at the Town Hall on Thursday.

Peace.

Jennifer Heiges

FCPS Communications

Stop the Spread Campaign

FCPS has launched a new campaign, titled “Stop the Spread,” to reiterate the CDC mitigation measures in the school community.  The campaign focuses on teaching and reinforcing the what, why, and how of implementation of each of the mitigation strategies. A community video has been created for please take a few moments view this important information.

Inclement Weather Reminder

FCPS is using additional approaches for "snow days" this winter, including synchronous and asynchronous instruction. If conditions warrant, there will likely be "snow days" as we have had in the past.

While weather decisions impact everyone in different ways, the superintendent makes the decision based on the safety of our students and staff, and FCPS' desire to maintain continuity of instruction, if possible.

Each weather event is unique. For example, poor road conditions may affect bus transportation for distributing grab and go meals to thousands of students, in addition to the staff who must get to work and prepare the meals. Also, power outages can impact students and staff during an instructional day whether they are in person or remote. Fortunately, all students have been provided devices to be able to participate in virtual learning.
