Picture Days!

Please join us February 9, 10, or 11, from 3:00 -7:00 pm for Irving Staff and Student Picture Days. We will be following strict safety precautions during our picture days with Lifetouch. Each student will have a 2 minute appointment to walk in, sit down, have their picture taken and exit the building. Quick and easy! Masks must be worn until it is time to take the picture and then put back on prior to leaving the studio area. Specific directions will be provided next week. If you have more than one child attending Irving, please schedule your children back to back to avoid having to come back at a second time.

To sign up for a timeslot, please click on this LINK and use the access code: irving4500.

New Bell Schedule

To prepare for the Return to School, we will be implementing a new bell schedule beginning Tuesday, February 16. This bell schedule will be followed by ALL Irving students and staff in both virtual and in-person settings. Class lunch times will be announced early next week as we are working to finalize our in-person lunch rotations. Please note - the after school hours are tentative beginning March 2 - once we see how long it takes to get students home, we may need to adjust our start time for after school activities and office hours.

Elective Course Review for Rising 8th grade

Over the last two weeks, our current 7th grade students have been choosing their electives for next year and entering this information into SIS. Parents can see the classes that their child has registered to take by logging into SIS ParentVue and then selecting Course Request. If you have a question about the classes your child has chosen, please speak with your child first and then reach out to your child’s school counselor. Our current 7th grade students will be selecting their core classes (English, science, social studies and math) in April.

Student Laptop Message: Windows License Expiring

If your child is receiving a message that their Windows license is expiring on their FCPS-issued laptop, follow the steps below to fix this:

  1. Turn off the laptop

  2. Drive or walk to the nearest FCPS site/parking lot (this can be any FCPS site)

  3. Get close enough to the building so the laptop automatically connects to the WiFi

  4. Turn the laptop on and login to the laptop

  5. Wait 5 mins and then restart (be sure you are restarting the laptop and not just shutting down)

  6. Log back into the laptop (while on the FCPS WiFi)

  7. Wait 5 another mins and then restart a second time (be sure you are restarting the laptop and not just shutting down)

  8. The licensing issue should be resolved, and you can take the laptop back to your residence

Video Games and Age-Appropriate Content

When it comes to video games, it’s important to remember that not all games are created equal. Today, there are a ton of age-appropriate games that are engaging, stimulating outlets for kids to have fun. There are also many well-designed games, packed with educational content. This Family Tip Sheet from Common Sense Media provides guidance for families in analyzing video game content.
