Westgate Town Hall - February 10

Dear Westgate Families,

I hope this finds you having a wonderful week!  As FCPS has communicated, the Return To School Timeline was approved at this week's School Board meeting.  That said, we will begin to return those students who chose in-person instruction starting on the dates listed below.  In an effort to provide guidance and answer any questions that families may have about the in-person or virtual setting moving forward, we have scheduled a Westgate Town Hall this Wednesday, February 10 @ 12:00 p.m.  Please use this RTS form to submit any questions you may have prior to our meeting so we can do our best to answer them during our time together.

We will be using the following BBCU link for our Town Hall and the session will be recorded if you are unable to attend.

Group 3: (IDS/ID/EAC) - February 16 

Group 5: PreK & Kindergarten - February 23 

Group 6: 1st & 2nd Grades - March 9 

Group 7: 3rd - 6th Grades - March 16

Bell Schedule & Instructional Schedule - Changes 2/16

Please note that our bell and instructional schedule will change for ALL students beginning February 16 to begin the transition of returning some students to in-person/face to face instruction.  Our new bell schedule will be from 9:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m.  While there will be minor shifts in lunch times, specials times, and asynchronous times, we hope that the changes will be minimal.  Classroom teachers will email parents their updated instructional schedules by Monday, February 8.

Tech Update for Students Returning to In-Person/Face-to-Face Instruction

Dear Families,

If your student is returning in person when school buildings open, please understand the following important technology information

All students must bring to school each day a laptop, laptop charger, and headphones. There will be no computers or headphones available for checkout for students if they forget them, and there is a very limited supply of laptop chargers for the school.

If you have a personal laptop your student will be bringing to school, they can bring it but you will first need to get that device onto the FCPS Wifi at least a week before they are to return to school. Please review the directions here to understand how to connect personal devices to the FCPS WiFi: https://www.fcps.edu/resources/technology/bring-your-own-device-byod/bring-your-own-device-byod-configuration-guides Standing outside near Westgate, or any FCPS building, will allow your device to pick up the WiFi signal to set it up. If you do not have a personal laptop and have not checked out a Westgate student laptop for your student to use in school, you can request a Westgate laptop. Please do so by completing this form by February 9, 2021. https://forms.gle/KQHNhjwECo8nq6Gs6 Once your laptop request is received we will prepare a laptop for your student and contact you for a pick up date and time. This will typically be 3-5 school days after the request is received.
