February 3, 2021
Dear VRES Parents and Guardians,
I hope you and your families enjoyed the beautiful snow! Hopefully, there is more snow in store for us during the upcoming weeks.
As you may have already heard, we are moving forward with our Return to School plans and we are super excited to have students in the building! Here is some information that will assist you in planning for in-person instruction:
- Our entire school will shift to our new bell schedule on February 16, 2021. Our day will begin at 9:45 am and end at 4:15 pm.
- Families will receive information detailing each child’s return to school plan including days for in-person and virtual learning as well as specifics about in-person instruction by the beginning of next week.
- Transportation information will be sent in a separate communication.
- Breakfast and lunch will be provided to every student who attends in-person instruction. If a lunch from home is preferred, students may bring their own lunch in a bag that can be discarded (no lunch boxes, please).
I’m thrilled to share that this week is National Counseling Week! We are so grateful for our VRES counselors and the positive impact they have on our students’ academic success and social emotional wellness! Please reach out to Ms. Jenna DeKeuster, Ms. Madina Masumi, and our newest counselor, Ms. Megan McAndrew, to let them know how much you appreciate them.
In closing, Dr. Jones and I will be hosting a VRES Return to School Question and Answer session for parents/guardians on Thursday, February 11, 2021. We will share updated information with you at this time. Please plan to join us by accessing the following link at 7 pm:

Parental Guardian Health Screening Commitment Form for In-Person Learning
Parents/guardians who chose an in-school instructional option for their child will be required to complete a Parent/Guardian Health Screening Commitment Form as students are phased back into in-person learning. This document indicates the parental/guardian’s agreement and commitment to completing a daily health screening prior to sending the student to school and also to keep ill students at home. This form is required to be returned before the start of the in person school day. If you have an activated ParentVUE account, when you login, the health screening commitment form will pop up for your review. Once you have read the form, you will have the option to click on the agree button and enter the date. Please note, the form will populate in your SIS ParentVue account 45 days prior to the start date for your child. If you do not have an activated account, please fill out the form using the link below and email it to Shannon Soria at srsoria@fcps.edu.
