Principal Message

Happy February Marshall Road.

I hope you and your family enjoyed the snow fall.  I think we all needed to see the beauty of snow this season.  A bright light amongst the ongoing struggles of the pandemic.

Dr. Brabrand will present the new plan for in-person learning at the school board meeting on Tuesday, February 2, at 1:30 p.m.  The meeting will be televised on FCPS Cable TV channel 99 (Verizon Channel 11) and will also be livestreamed on the FCPS website.  We will continue to follow the guidelines from FCPS as we hopefully begin to transition students back into the building very soon.  Thank you for your continued support of our teachers as they navigate through virtual instruction.

Please join me in congratulating Ms. Elise Strongin, 5th grade teacher, who has been named The Madison Pyramid Teacher of the Year.  We are so proud of Elise and her accomplishments.  We are beyond fortunate to have Ms. Strongin teaching at Marshall Road ES.

Stay warm everyone!

Runathon Input - What should our spring event look like?

Our fall Roadrunner Runathon is one of Marshall Road’s most popular events and our biggest fundraiser (by far!) of the year. While we would love nothing more than to have an in-person event this spring, the likelihood of this happening seems low considering current restrictions. With this in mind, the Marshall Road PTA would like to understand from our community the interest level in holding a virtual Runathon, fundraiser and/or something else to engage our students and raise needed funding for a host of student and teacher focused enrichments.

We appreciate you taking a few minutes to let us know your thoughts to this two question poll: https://forms.gle/ResQCv8fh37tGtoj7

Community Equity Audit

Marshall Road’s Equity Team is committed to ensuring we are constantly considering “whose voice is being heard and whose voice has not been heard”.  Part of our commitment to providing equity in our school is to use data to drive our decisions as well as our changes!  Fairfax County has created a tool called the “Equity Audit” which is a survey that will help us evaluate our current practices at Marshall Road!  We need your help as our Marshall Road community.  So far, we have heard the voices of our MRES staff and 6th grade students but we need your voices heard too!  Please complete the following Equity Audit Survey at this link: https://forms.gle/GMM4uXAoTDvrFpgS8  Thank you for your collaboration on such important work!
