Franklin MS Weekly Update - January 29

Franklin Families and Students,

Good afternoon. Thank you for a great 1st week of the new semester. Any type of transition like this takes a team effort to be successful, and I am proud of the work that our staff, families, and students did to make this a smooth one.

Next week is National School Counseling Week and I would like to ask all of you to help me recognize the wonderful Student Services Team that we have at Franklin. We have shared a some additional information in the message below. Please join me in saying THANK YOU to our school counselors for providing a much-needed resource for students, parents, teachers and the entire school community!

Please save the date for two Family Information Sessions about the Return to School (RTS) plan that we have scheduled on February 8. These sessions will give us an opportunity to listen to your questions and to share what the RTS plan will look like at our school. We will host two sessions on that day at 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM and a link will be sent out when we are closer to the event. Both sessions will be identical and we hope you can join us for the one that works best with your schedule.

You are always encouraged to reach out to me directly at dpwright@fcps.edu with questions, suggestions, or if there is anything our team can do to support your students.

Best wishes for an enjoyable weekend.

Sincerely,

Dustin Wright

Principal

National School Counseling Week, February 1–5

National School Counseling Week 2021, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), will be celebrated from February 1–5. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success. This special week honors school counselors for being actively engaged in helping students examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents; for working in a partnership with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today’s world; for focusing on positive ways to enhance students’ academic, postsecondary and social/emotional development; and working with teachers and other educators to provide an educational system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves. School counselors are certified, experienced educators with a master’s degree in school counseling. The combination of their training and experience makes them an integral part of the total educational program.

Franklin MS After School Program

As we start the 2nd semester, a few new clubs have been added to our virtual after school activity list.

  • New Clubs starting this semester – Animal Crossing, Cooking, Games Club, Harry Potter, Mars Landing Crew, and Marvel Club. Other clubs that have reopened enrollment include Knitting, Photography and Running Club.
  • Students can join after school clubs and activities throughout the year. Please take advantage of our free after school program!
  • Spaces in clubs are limited so students are accepted on a first come, first served basis.  We want our clubs to be interactive and engaging, which will not be possible if the groups get too large.
  • Students can find more information about the After School Program in their grade-level Google Classroom and on the student After School site.
  • Students should check out the “Clubs by Day” and “Club Descriptions” sheets for club information and schedules.

If you have any questions about the After School Program, please feel free to contact Mrs. Mollé.
