Dear Fairfax Academy Families,
We hope our students are finding success as we end the 1st semester and look forward to continuing our partnership with each of you during the second half of the school year. If you have any concerns about your student's class, please remember to reach out to your student's teacher and/or the Academy Support Team.
We are getting gearing up for our annual Academy Open House. This event is for new students, so please share with families you know would be interested in one of our classes. This is also a great time to explore additional Academy classes beyond what students are taking this year. BbCU guest links will be available on our Academy website. These links will go live at 6:15pm the day of the event. We will have breakout rooms for you to hear from our amazing Academy teachers about their unique classes and our support team will be available to answer questions.
Looking ahead to February we will be hosting our 3rd Annual Career Experience Expo. We are proud to announce that the 2021 Career Experience Expo Keynote Speaker is David Zambrano! See below for more information. More details about the Expo will be shared with students in their classes over the coming weeks.

David “DEZ” Zambrano was born in 1976 in Los Angeles, California. At a young age his family moved to avoid the prospect of a dangerous upbringing. He was raised in Northern Virginia on the outskirts of DC.
DEZ draws influence from the experiences in his life. His first true love of art began with graffiti when he saw ‘Beat Street’ as a young kid. The love affair was further flamed while riding the Red Line from Virginia to Maryland to visit his father. He was captivated by the incredible artwork he would see covering the walls as the train went by.
With no proper schooling and no disciplined lessons in art, DEZ has been ‘self-schooled’ in his craft. You can see a lot of the graffiti influence in his work. DEZ is an accomplished custom airbrush artist, muralist, and canvas artist. He utilizes mixed media to create a visual masterpiece. He has garnered wide notoriety with his custom artwork on footwear, providing custom work for athletes like Julio Jones, Tom Brady, Steve Smith Sr. and Stephen Curry to name a few.
DEZ is a multi-disciplinary artist that has developed a body of original artwork over the span of his career. He often says ‘no piece is ever really finished, you just run out of time.’ Fortunately, there is always an opportunity to create something fresh and new. Every new piece comes from an organic place, never driven by current fads or waves allowing him to stand out amongst other artists.
