Attendance Matters!
Attendance drives everything! It is tied to almost every aspect of school performance and future outcomes. Please visit the Falls Church High School website attendance page for updated policies and procedures.
A note about Monday attendance:
Please remember that while there is no bell schedule on Mondays, attendance is still required. Students are responsible for logging in to their 4th period/Advisory teacher’s Google Classroom and completing the Google attendance form posted by the teacher between 8:10 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. in order to be marked present.
Students who frequently miss school:
- Have lower financial security
- Develop delinquent patterns that may lead to adult criminal behaviors
- Are more likely to engage in risky behavior like substance abuse or gang activity
- Are subject to school consequences such as loss of privileges or suspension
Avoid absences unless absolutely necessary!
Celebrating our Students!
Our weekly recognition of students who are demonstrating excellence in academics, behavior or citizenship.
-
Salman Al-Ngash - Salman is always the first one in our Advisory period. He has an incredibly friendly attitude and participates regularly during lessons. Thanks to Salman for usually being the first student to respond and interact. – Ms. Harrup
-
Elmi Mohamad, Newton Ma, Riya Patil, Melannye Perez Perez, Jefferson Rivera-Delgado, Laura Truong, Henry Martin, Alexander Obando, Tina Pham, & Ginel Ruiz-Jimenez - Regardless of the difficulties of our day to day routines, these students are ALWAYS on task and ready for their next learning opportunity! In the words of Philip Dormer Stanhope- "It is through ordinary accomplishments that we add luster to life." I Thank you. - Ms. Johnson
-
Laila Omar - Laila has to be one of the most engaged students due to her high visibility during distance learning, interesting questions, and ability to spread her energy level to the rest of the class. Her enthusiasm energizes others and is one of the many reasons that I love logging on and teaching during this class. – Mr. Hartman
-
Joel Caceres-Rosales - Joel is a great addition to our class! Not only is he crushing it in terms of his classwork and art projects, he also can always be counted on to contribute to class discussions and adds a bit of humor to the chat. Joel’s enthusiasm and motivation really adds to our class! – Ms. Dreon
-
Oscar Umanzor Rubio- Oscar has been one of my eighth period's most diligent and hard-working students all year. He started the year off having tech problems and was unable to log in to class, but he reached out immediately and we were able to fix the problem. That clued me in to how seriously Oscar takes his education! Additionally, he has turned in his assignments on time, had consistently great attendance, and he even frequently comes to office hours unprompted in order to make sure he stays on top of his work. Great work, Oscar! – Mr. Mahan

Jaguar Fans in the Stands cutouts ($30) can be ordered now. We will continue to sell cut-outs week-by-week.
Orders will be fulfilled on Fridays for the next few weeks. Orders received by Friday will arrive at Falls Church the following week. All gym sports cutouts (Basketball, Wrestling, Gymnastics) will be displayed in the stands for all home events. Swim/Dive athletes will have their Cutouts available at the school. Swim/Dive athletes can bring in their Fans in the Stands on meet day (but must remove them at the end of the swim/dive meet each time). Track will be placed outside in the stadium for the track meet. Please note that the cutouts have grommets (holes to adhere to the fences) and are constructed of material that will endure elements outside!

Booster Athletics
Revenue from both ticket sales and Booster memberships (that normally provide entry into events) help to fund athletics at FCHS. As you watch a game on livestream or if you get to attend an event in person, we hope you’ll consider a donation to the FCHS Athletic Boosters! There will be donation boxes located at the entry to events and you can also click on the QR code to donate. For those of you following this, we were supposed to now be allowing limited spectators for all levels, but last week FCPS switched gears (due to COVID) to only allowing 25 spectators at just the Varsity level events. Spectators have to use a sign-up for admission and go through COVID protocols. There are no walk-up spectators allowed. The QR code is attached. It goes to this URL: https://fchs-jaguar-athletic-boosters-club.square.site/donate .
