Justice Newsletter - January 18

A Note from Principal Eck

Dear Justice Families,

Today, we celebrate the life and achievement of Civil Rights Leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. MLK day is designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. These last few weeks have reminded us how important that focus is in our community, our state, and our nation. As we enter this week, Dr. King’s dream of a perfect union remains at the forefront.  At Justice, our staff is committed to opportunity and access to rigorous curriculum for all.  As Michelle Obama said, "The ability to read, write and analyze; the confidence to stand up and demand justice and equity; the qualifications and confidence to get your foot in the door and take your seat at the table - all of that starts with education." We will continue to strive for excellence for all students.

This week our students will have the opportunity to participate in various formats regarding current events. The first will be a school-wide social-emotional lesson on how they feel and are processing the recent events during a pandemic. The lesson will take place Thursday in first period. We are also offering additional opportunities for students to meet with clinical staff on Tuesday and Thursday all day. Students can access an open link posted on their grade level Google Classroom and no appointment is necessary. Last, our administrators, clinical staff, and equity leads will host an optional after-school session for students to further dialogue amongst a larger group. The link for this session will be posted Thursday by no later than 2PM in Google Classroom.

We want to continue to listen to our students and let them know that our school community supports their learning in a safe and caring environment.

Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff and community.
