A Note From Your Principal
As we saw last Tuesday night, the School Board has decided to pause all groups on the Superintendent's return to in-person instruction at this time. The pause will be in effect until the board meets again. The next School Board meeting is scheduled to take place February 2. As information becomes available, I will be sure to pass it on in a timely manner.
With all that is changing around us please be sure to make time and space (if you choose to) to talk to your kids about current events in an age appropriate manner. From the pandemic, the civil unrest, the election and so on, there has been no shortage of impactful events throughout this year that has caused the young lives of our community to change in major ways that we might want to address. We try to shelter our kids but they are aware of our stress and it has an effect on them. When starting these conversations, begin by asking what they know and what they have heard, be short and direct with your answers, take time to ask how this information makes them feel and don't discount or dismiss their emotions. Give age appropriate facts and context when answering questions. If they ask why something happened avoid labels like "bad guys" or "evil." As parents, it is okay to not have all the answers; "I don't know" is an acceptable answer.
