Dear Parents and Guardians:
As we continue with the 2020-2021 school year, we must simultaneously start the process of scheduling for the 2021-2022 school year. Below you will find messages from Westfield Student Services for parents with students in the Classes of 2022 through 2024 and the Class of 2025.
It is not too early for you or your student to engage teachers and your student’s counselor in conversations about recommended courses for the 2021-2022 school year. We have an impressive selection of course offerings, and a talented faculty prepared to discuss the courses they teach.
My request is as you and your student select classes for the next school year seek balance in the courses you choose. Please consider our students have not had face to face instruction in more than nine months. While I am confident teachers will adjust their curriculum to fill in the gaps from the previous year’s content, I’m asking you to engage your student in a thoughtful and reflective conversation about the rigor of the courses they select, their ability to succeed given the rigor of the courses selected, and other goals or aspirations they may have (i.e. having a job, participating in extracurricular activities, etc.).
As in previous years, our ability to accommodate schedule changes will be limited once the school year begins; therefore, help your student plan a balanced selection of courses.
Stay healthy; be safe; GO BULLDOGS!
Anthony E. Copeland, PhD
Principal
