Dear Beech Tree Families,
Much has happened this week and I wanted to take a moment to try to summarize it all as best I can.
Tuesday evening, Dr. Brabrand, FCPS Superintendent, presented the phase in plan for in-school instruction to the School Board. Due to the ever growing number of COVID-19 cases in Fairfax County, as well as the fact that teachers have not yet been given the opportunity to be vaccinated against COVID-19, a pause to in-person learning was issued through February.
This means that no Beech Tree students will come in to the school building next week. All students will continue to receive virtual instruction and we will continue to follow our current schedule. The new bell schedule will not take effect until we begin in-person learning. I will be sure to let you know when that will begin, as soon as those decisions are made the first week of February. Mondays, students will continue to have their grade level Morning Meeting and Specialist Sessions virtually. Asynchronous instruction will be provided and available. This coming Monday, will be completely asynchronous, as it was already a scheduled Teacher Planning Day.
For those parents who have elected to have their children receive in-person instruction, it is very important that you complete the Health Screening Commitment form below:
*This will indicate your agreement and commitment to completing a daily health screening prior to sending the student to school and also to keep ill students at home.
Important Upcoming Dates:
- January 11th – Teacher Workday; Asynchronous Instruction for Students
- January 18-Dr. King Holiday-School and Beech Tree ES Offices Closed
- January 20-Innauguration Day-School and Beech Tree ES Offices Closed
- January 22-Two Hour Early Release for Students
- January 25-Teacher Workday; Asynchronous Instruction for Students
Now that I’ve shared current information with you, I also want to take a moment to thank you for your trust and partnership as a #BeechTreeFamily. Being at home, with easy access to the television and all other media outlets, during this pandemic, has allowed our children to witness outrageous, painful events taking place across our country. This week’s events came to our backyard. Our staff have carefully provided a safe place for discussion for our students. I hope you have felt supported as parents. I hope you always do.
I will continue to do my best to keep you informed. Have a safe and happy weekend!
