Return to School Updates

Good Afternoon Major Families,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful winter break with memorable times with family and friends!

As you now know, the FCPS School Board voted last night to pause the plans for us to return to in-person hybrid learning.  Over the next few weeks, Dr. Brabrand will meet with the school board to develop a new timeline.  Please review the FCPS Return to School website here for more information.

In the interim this means:

  • No students from Groups 1-5 (SPED, ESOL, CTE) will return yet.
  • No phase-in for the remainder of the school (Group 8) until we get further information.
  • Previously scheduled SOL testing will continue, these families have already been contacted. 

  • No change in the bell schedule until further notice.  In the meantime, we will continue to use the schedule below.

Please also mark your calendars for the following important dates.  If we receive notice of any changes, we will let you know asap.

January 11- Teacher Prep Day

January 13 & 14 – MVHS “Catch Up Days” (On these support days, students will login to their classes, teachers will take attendance, but there will be no new instruction.)

January 18 - No School - MLK Day

January 20 - No School - Inauguration Day

January 22 - End of 2nd Quarter - Early Release

January 25 - Teacher Workday
