Happy New Year

From The Principal

Family,

Happy New Year and welcome to the home stretch of the 20-21 school year.  I hope that each of you had a restful and relaxing Holiday Season and more than anything else you remained healthy and safe.  I am happy to say that I was able to find my way back to the office after a few days away, and my key still worked!

I wanted to drop you a quick message to let you know about some important dates that are right around the corner.  I have sent this message to your children already and figured I should probably clue you all in as well.  😊

Important Dates

January 4 - Teacher Prep Day

January 11- Teacher Prep Day

January 12- Revised Bell Schedule Begins

January 18 - No School - MLK Day

January 19 - Teacher Prep Day (*Tentative)

January 20 - No School - Inauguration Day

January 21 - Teacher Prep Day (*Tentative)

January 22 - End of 2nd Quarter - Early Release

January 25 - Teacher Workday

January 26 - Grades 9 and 12 Return into the Building (*Tentative)

February 2 - Grades 10 and 11 Return into the Building (*Tentative)

Teacher Prep Days - January 4 and 11: FCPS recently announced that January 4 and January 11 will be "Teacher Prep Days'' to prepare for the in-person return of students to school. Staff will have the days to prep for student return.

Revised Bell Schedule Begins January 12: FCPS recently announced that beginning on January 12, the bell schedules for all schools will be revised to address concerns regarding the proposed later bell schedules for elementary and proposed earlier start times for middle school.

The revised bell schedule for high schools is 8:20am - 2:50pm. The revised bell schedule will be:

Period 1/2 8:20-9:40

Period 3/4 9:50-11:10

A Lunch 11:20-11:50

B Lunch 12:05-12:35

C Lunch 12:50-1:20

Period 5/6 12:00-1:20

Period 7/8 1:30-2:50

Due to the fact that we will have 2 weeks of school where students will not be in the building and that currently there is no need for the different lunches, we will be assigning all students to the “A Lunch” through January 22nd.  This means that every student will have lunch from 11:20am to 12:00pm.  We will assign all students to a lunch in the coming weeks, and they will have their lunch break at their prescribed time and that change will go into effect on January 26th.

Monday’s have been days where students have been able to check in with teachers and also to be able to have attendance taken. Mondays will no longer be check in opportunities for students for help unless teachers tell your child otherwise. But you will still use this day to check in for attendance purposes, so continue to do this.

Lastly, our fabulous PTSO parents have graciously offered to handle the dissemination of the 1st Quarter honor Roll Certificates, and the Academic Award Letters.  These items will be available for pickup on Monday, January 11th.  Families may come to the building and retrieve their certificate and/or Academic Letter at Entrance 14 between the hours of 12:30pm – 4:30pm.

Some short message huh?  Just look at it as me missing chatting with you all.  Have a wonderful evening.  Please take care and continue to be safe!  #One Stallion
