Franklin MS Update - January 3

Franklin Families and Students,

Happy New Year and welcome to 2021 at Franklin MS! We hope that all of you had a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable Winter Vacation. Here are a few updates for tomorrow and the days ahead.

Before the break we shared with you that, beginning this month, Mondays will transition to asynchronous days for our students. This means the typical Check & Connect session we have on Mondays at 8:00 AM will not take place. A few details about how tomorrow will work can be found below.

  • Attendance will still be taken on Mondays and students will be contacted by their Falcon Time teachers with a virtual attendance activity that needs to be completed by 12:00 PM.
  • Asynchronous activities will be available for our students and they should review the Google Classroom sites for all of their classes.

Our virtual instruction schedule will resume on Tuesday, January 5 using the same schedule from the first half of the school year.

Please feel free to contact our main office at 703-904-5100 with any questions.

Return to School Updates

FCPS division leaders will be sending several updates in the coming weeks. For your planning purposes, we wanted to share the following information with you. These updates will be in place at all middle schools throughout FCPS.

  • The Franklin MS school day will be adjusted to 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM and this change will go into effect on January 12.  Our start time has remained the same, but our school day finishes 15 minutes earlier.
  • FMS students will have asynchronous instruction days on January 4, 11, 19 & 21 to support Return to School planning for our staff. Teachers will provide independent learning activities for our students on these days.
  • FMS students that have selected in-person instruction will return for the hybrid model at the end of January. 7th graders are scheduled to return on January 26 and 8th graders are scheduled to return on February 2.
