Message from the Principal

Dear Wolftrap Families,

Happy New Year!! I hope that each of you enjoyed a great holiday break with your families.

As students return for in-person learning, it will be necessary to revise the bell schedule to accommodate more bus runs. The number of students allowed on each bus will be reduced substantially to meet social distancing requirements. With fewer students able to ride a bus at the same time, FCPS must adjust the times that buses are transporting students. The school day will be reduced by 15 minutes due to the increased cleaning time required between bus runs. Wolftrap’s new bell schedule will be 9:00 AM-3:30 PM, effective January 12. You will receive a detailed daily schedule from our teachers for your children’s specific grade level. This schedule will be in place for the remainder of the year. All in-person classes have two dedicated handwashing times and two mask breaks, while our virtual students will have two screen breaks at the same time. New arrival and dismissal procedures are being developed. We are also designing new recess structures, which will involve classes being assigned rotating zones around the school grounds. This ensures that our virtual families can still enjoy a common lunch break! Students in Grades K-2 have already received updated teacher assignments and cohort assignments (Tuesday/Wednesday or Thursday/Friday) for those who selected in-person instruction. Parents of students in Grades 3-6 will receive a personalized email this week with this information.

On Tuesday, January 5, at 3 p.m., the return to in-person instruction will be discussed at the School Board work session. You can watch the meeting on FCPS Cable Channel 99 (Verizon Channel 11) or the FCPS website. Following this meeting, more information will be provided regarding return dates for in-person instruction for those who selected that option. As additional student groups return to school in person, parents are asked to complete a Health Screening Commitment form before students return to school buildings. This document confirms that a parent, caregiver, or guardian will complete a daily health screening and will keep their students home should they become ill. The Health Commitment form can be submitted electronically through ParentVUE (PVUE), or via hard copy. If you need a hard copy, please contact the Wolftrap main office and a copy will be emailed or mailed to you. Please understand that no students will be allowed to begin in-person instruction until this form has been submitted.

We are very excited to be back with your children and look forward to a productive and fun 2021!

Sincerely,

Teresa Khuluki
Principal

Wofltrap PTA

Happy New Year Wolftrap! It's 2021 and the PTA is ready to kick off the rest of the year with many activities planned. Before we jump into next year's activities, let's recap the awesomeness that ended the year:

  • The Inova Children's Hospital Toy Drive raised a total of $2600, triple our goal! Thank you to all the families that contributed to this wonderful cause.
  • Our dedicated room parents brought wonderful virtual winter parties to all grades. Their innovation gave us fun times our students and teachers will never forget. Thank you room parents! Have pictures? Send to the yearbook at yearbook@wolftrappta.org.
  • The Book Fair hit the PTA fundraising goals and raised $245 dollars to purchase books for our sister school. Our community didn't stop there. Every teacher who had a wish list got at least one book as well! We are so thankful for all who purchased books.
  • The Talent Show Committee kicked off coordination of our virtual Talent Show. A parent meeting was held to communicate ideas, initial plans, and get thoughts from parents. Stay tuned on upcoming activities.
  • Random Acts of Kindness Challenge brought us opportunities to show kindness in small ways. If you finished this challenge over the holiday break, email wolftrapraok@wolftrappta.org with your completed form (click here to get the official RAoK form) and address. A PTA volunteer will drop off the PTA's returned kindness!
  • The Directory Committee delivered paper directories to PTA Members via Monday school pickup. Don't have one and want one because they are so handy? No problem. Join the PTA here! It's not too late. Once a member, a paper directory will be available for pickup.

January is a quiet month for the PTA as we are gearing up for activities in late January and into February. We have Dining 4 Dollars, a Valentine's Event, a twist on our Edison Expo Science Fair, Talent Show activities, Yearbook, and 5k Committee kick-off! Stay tuned and get involved. Email president@wolftrappta.org if interested in getting involved in any way. Hope to see you Feb 11, 2021 at our next PTA meeting.
