Langley Book Discussion Group -- Who Gets In And Why?

Mark your calendars for Jan 11, 2021, 12 pm, when Langley's College and Career Specialist Hannah Wolff will host a book discussion group for the Langley community on Who Gets In and Why: A Year Inside College Admissions by Jeff Selingo. Mr. Selingo's book, included on The New York Times 100 Notable Books of 2020, is filled with insights gleaned from a year in the trenches with college admissions directors. Ms. Wolff will facilitate discussions on topics including: the test-optional choice, applying early decision, and how students should create a balanced list of colleges.

All are welcome!

SENIORS - 7th Semester Grades reported to Colleges on Wed, Feb 10

Langley High School sends out mid-year grades (officially called 7th semester grades) to any college a student has submitted a transcript request on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.   Due to processing timelines, please know that there are no exceptions to this date.  Any questions can be directed to Transcript Assistant, Ms. Betsy Shomaker at enshomaker@fcps.edu

Action Requested: Help save trees and FCPS $$ on postage by opting in to receive “Paperless” Report Cards (that can be printed through ParentVUE)

Parents/Guardians may opt into “Go Paperless” for report cards by following the below instructions:

  • Parents/Guardians can take advantage of the paperless option, by logging into ParentVUE, then going to “My Account” and selecting "Go Paperless!". This is the only way to keep a paper report card from being generated for students at the secondary level. All parents who share the same address as the student must have a SIS ParentVUE account and must select the paperless option.

Langley Legacy Tree

A leaf for the Langley Legacy Tree makes a great holiday gift! The Legacy Tree, located in the LHS Lobby and across from the Main Office, is a permanent and prominent record of generous courtyard contributors. Choose your engraved message — leaves make wonderful tributes to students, teachers, family and friends.

Click on this link to buy your leaves, acorns or birds now, and print this tribute note to present to the recipient honored on your leaf. Giving levels are copper leaf ($50), silver leaf ($100), gold leaf ($200) and acorn or bird ($500). Leaves will be placed on the tree as soon as covid-19 restrictions allow.

Your leaf donation will help fund the beautification of the third and final LHS courtyard to be renovated. Many thanks to the hundreds of Langley families who already have donated leaves to the Langley Legacy Tree!

Visit the new Courtyard Legacy Tree page on the PTSA website for more details and a history of the project. Questions? Email chrissielavin1@gmail.com.
