Outstanding Employee Award Winners!
Dear OES Families & Students,
We are excited to announce the Oakton ES nominees for the following FCPS Honors awards:
Outstanding New Teacher: Alexis Schmidt (Enhanced Autism Teacher)
Outstanding Teacher: Bridgette Joskow (5th grade teacher)
Outstanding Professional Employee: Katie Tobin (School Based Technology Specialist)

At the School Board Work session on December 10, Superintendent Brabrand presented a revised phased- plan to return all students who have selected the in-person option starting in January, 2021. Staff worked to improve start times and end times for all levels, and the bell schedule for OES has been changed to 9:45AM-4:15PM. This bell schedule will be in place effective January 12, 2021 for both virtual and in- person instruction.
Our understanding, at this time, is that we will be switching to the new bell schedule on January 12 even if our Return to School dates are adjusted.

When students return to school in January, they will learn about optimism. You expect the best from the future and work to achieve it.

SCA Winter Bingo
Hi OES parents, we would like for you to post pictures of your kids doing and finding these fun activities. This is an optional thing to do. Your OES SCA thinks it would be a great idea for your kids to do over this winter break. Another thing you should know is that there is no prize- this is just for fun. We hope your kids/kid (and maybe you?) have fun!

The Scripps National Spelling Bee is coming to OES! Registration for students in Grades K-6 is open NOW through Jan. 25th and the earlier you register, the more time you have to study those word lists.
