MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL - HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Dear Parents and Guardians:

On behalf of the faculty and staff, I wish you and your family Happy Holidays.  This is the final week of school in 2020.  While it has been a challenging year for everyone, I am incredibly proud of the effort and perseverance demonstrated by our students and staff.  We have had challenges, and there are additional challenges ahead; nevertheless, I believe as we work together we will be able to continue to promote learning for our students, demonstrate grace to each other, and grow as a school and community.

After Winter Break (December 21, 2020 - January 1, 2021), we will host opportunities for students and families to learn about our course offerings for the 2021-2022 school year.  Curriculum Night is January 14, 2021.  It is an opportunity for families to learn about our course offerings (i.e. expected outcomes, typical workload, etc.) and meet some of our staff.  Please help your student carefully choose his/her classes.  We have an impressive mix of core, advanced academic, and elective courses for students.  If you have questions about courses beyond what you will see at Curriculum Night, contact our teachers via email or schedule a virtual meeting to discuss the course(s) they teach.  This year, more than ever, parental involvement is essential to promote academic growth and balance for our students.

Stay healthy; be safe; GO BULLDOGS!

NEWS AND INFORMATION

IN PERSON TO ONLINE LEARNING

While planning for the 2021-2022 school year, we are also preparing for the reopening of school.  All parents should login to SISParentVue and confirm their selection for in person or online learning.  Parents who chose in person learning should confirm their selections for in person meals and in person transportation.  If you have reconsidered your student returning to in person learning, contact Sonya Williams, Director of Student Services (DSS) at snwilliams1@fcps.edu or call 703-488-6382 to discuss changing your selection.

Please note, students returning to in person learning may have their schedules changed to ensure they have an in person teacher.  In those instances where students returning to in person learning have an online teacher, we will have a classroom monitor in the room.  In those instances where the number of students returning for in  person learning in a class exceeds the social distancing capacity for the classroom, some students will be in a room with a classroom monitor.  Again, if you would like to confirm or change your return to in person learning selection, please contact Sonya Williams, DSS.

BETA CLUB NATIONAL QUALIFIERS

Please join me in congratulating the Westfield BETA Club.  In November, club members attended a virtual leadership summit.  One of the competitions was a Service Snapshot Challenge where five club members prepared a video presentation of a service project.  We recently learned the team qualified to compete at the national level.  BETA Club members who participated in the Service Snapshot Challenge were: Diana E; Roana G; Nikki R; Medha T; and Lara Z.

Congratulations and GO BULLDOGS!
