Dear Bush Hill Families,
Due to the current health metrics, we have paused our pilot program at Bush Hill Elementary. We want to thank our staff and parents who worked together to ensure that this experience was a safe and successful one for our students! We are confident that the experiences we had with the pilot program will help us to ensure success for all students as we begin to bring additional students back to the building once health conditions improve. Students in our pre-school and ID/IDS program continue to attend in-person at this time.
The FCPS School Board will be meeting tonight, Thursday, December 10th, at 6 p.m. The meeting will be focused on Return to School. Superintendent Scott Brabrand will provide an update on our mitigation efforts and plans for future groups of students to return to in-person instruction. The meeting will be televised on FCPS Cable TV Channel 99 (Verizon Channel 11) and will also be available on the FCPS website. The current presentation materials are available for public viewing on the FCPS School Board site here.
You will note that the presentation references a change in bell schedules for elementary schools. While we did share that a change in bell schedule might be possible with Bush Hill families this past summer, we now know that the division is proposing that Bush Hill begin a new schedule sometime after January 4, 2021. Bush Hill’s new schedule is anticipated to be 10:05 – 4:50 p.m. and would impact both in-person and virtual students once implemented. The change in bell schedule is being proposed by central office to accommodate social distancing constraints and cleaning protocols on busses. As decisions regarding this proposed schedule are finalized by central office, we will communicate this with you for your planning purposes.
