 December Walking Wednesdays

December's Walking Wednesday theme is "Walk on the Wild Side." Call on your neighbors to help with this month's theme. Students out on their Walking Wednesday will be on the lookout for Lions, Tigers, and Bears, oh my. Last spring, many neighbors placed Teddy Bears in their windows for kids to spot. This month any stuffed animal will do for Walking on the Wild Side

A Note From Your AART-December

By the time you are reading this, the referral deadline has passed, so what's next?

If a referral for Level IV was submitted, staff working with your child are busy collecting anecdotal notes and work samples to share with the screening committee. The following timeline will help guide you through the process:

January 2021: The Brookfield Screening Committee will meet to review the file prior to submitting it to the county.

March 2021: The Fairfax County Central Committee will be meeting, where the final screening will take place.

April 2021: Parents and schools should receive eligibility letters.

May 13, 2021: Brookfield will host an Orientation Meeting for parents of students who are found eligible. This is also the form submission deadline for parents wishing to appeal on behalf of their child who was not found eligible.

If you have any questions concerning the screening process, please feel free to contact me at shreed@fcps.edu. Please remember that there is a continuum of services for AAP and that level IV is not the only access point. The following link will provide information about all AAP services available at Brookfield. Continuum of Services: https://www.fcps.edu/academics/academic-overview/advanced-academic-programs
