Message from the Principal

Dear Wolftrap Families,

I hope that you had the opportunity to spend a relaxing and memorable time with your families over the Thanksgiving holiday. If you are doing any online holiday shopping this season, please remember to use Wolftrap’s Amazon Smile account! AmazonSmile is one of the simplest ways to earn 0.5% cashback for our school just with your everyday shopping.

We have three short weeks until winter break! Our teachers have many meaningful and engaging activities planned for your children, and we know that they will maintain their positive attitude about learning.

Please continue to be vigilant, fight pandemic fatigue and stay safe!

Sincerely,

Teresa Khuluki
Principal

Madison Pyramid Canned Food Drive: Ongoing

The Madison Pyramid schools are joining together for a canned food drive. A box will be placed outside Door 1 for community members to drop off cans during the day M-F, during school hours. The canned food drive will end on December 14th. These donations will directly support our community, and we are hoping to help as many families as we can!

Attendance Procedures

Attendance is taken five days a week.  Even if you contact your child’s teacher to inform them of an absence, it is also essential for you to report the absence to the office so that attendance can be coded accurately in SIS (Student Information System.)  Additionally, please note that if a child misses the Monday Morning Meeting, it is a full-day absence as the state of Virginia requires attendance is taken daily.  If your child will be absent for any part of a school day, please report to the school through one of the following:

We appreciate your support in impressing upon your child the importance of being punctual and present in all classes.

Guidance on Holiday Gifts for WES Faculty

holiday gift

The holidays are upon us and everyone is thinking of our Wolftrap teachers and staff. If you would like to send holiday gifts to your grade level teacher and front office staff, we invite parents to drop off holiday gifts at the school before winter break or directly email letters or gift certificates. Drop off during office hours Monday-Friday 8am-3pm.

For our specials, special education, instructional assistants (1-6 grade), and specialists, we have two parent volunteers accepting contributions via Venmo. These staff members support so many of our students day to day. Collection will go through Monday, December 14th. Room parent communications via email will have these details. If you do not receive instructions on how to contribute and would like to contribute, email Christine Harney at president@wolftrappta.org.

Thank you, parents, for such wonderful thoughts and care for our teachers and staff!

Book Fair: Last Day is Tues Dec 1!

giving
Bookfair

Tomorrow is the last day to order books from our virtual Wolftrap Book Fair. Get in those last minute orders to support the PTA while you can! Just click the link here to be transported to the virtual bookstore.

There is still time to have your kids make a virtual wish list which can be sent to family and friends near and far, allowing them to purchase books in time for the holidays.

We have two fabulous ways to support the PTA during Giving Tuesday, the first is to purchase a book from your child’s teacher or specialist wish lists. The second is to consider making a donation to our sister school to provide a reading adventure for those not as fortunate as we find ourselves.

Remember every book purchased automatically gives back to the Wolftrap PTA! Further details can be found on the Wolftrap’s PTA website here.

Random Acts of Kindness Challenge: One More Challenge Left

kindness

There is only one more challenge left in our Random Acts of Kindness Challenge! Once you have completed five (5) RAoKs, email wolftrapraok@wolftrappta.org with your completed form (click here to get the official RAoK form) and address. A PTA volunteer will drop off the PTA's returned kindness!

You didn't track all of the RAoK on Facebook?! And you want to catch up?! No problem! Go to our PTA website here and perform acts of kindness when you can. It's never too late for kindness.

Emails should be received by December 14th to receive before the holiday break. The winter RAoK ends December 20, 2020.

Wolftrap ES Support To Inova Children Hospital Toy Drive

toy

Each year Wolftrap will pair a charitable activity as part of our many grade Winter Parties. Given the different year, we are doing a WES community donation drive to Inova Children's Hospital. For the safety of the patients and staff, Inova Children's Hospital cannot accept toys, books and other donations for pediatric patients. But during this time the need is still so great.

All funds raised will be used to spread cheer to Inova's youngest patients, most especially those spending the holidays in the hospital. Our goal is to raise $500 dollars. If families donate $5 each we can easily meet our target. Donate today using our Inova Fundraising site here!  We will be collecting through Wednesday, December 16th. Thank you Wolftrap!

PTA Volunteers: We Thank You!

volunteer

The PTA can't do the things we do without great volunteers. We thank the following volunteers for supporting the PTA committees and supporting our community.

Thank you Carla (Making Art Treasures Happen) Espinosa: Carla led us through our Original Works Fundraiser. Thanks to Carla and Ms. Mallino for helping our students, we now have wonderful treasures to share with family and friends!

Thank you Kim (Book Fair Masta) Dean and her awesome book fair super star team (Leanne McNabney, Amy Cordone, Heather Collins, Mary Finney, Corrine Fields, and Shannon Stubbs): Without this crew we would not have had a book fair this year. We love our books. The PTA was glad to offer it this year! Thank you for the marketing, the news show video, and coming together to make it happen.

Wolftrap Virtual Talent Show 2021 - Parent Meeting

talent

Wolftrap has so many exciting virtual events happening this school year and our twist on the traditional Wolftrap Talent Show is no exception! But putting together a virtual version of our popular show will be no small feat, from the individual acts to our sixth grade standout performances, this year’s show will take a lot of participation to make sure we really give the kids a platform to highlight their talents.

Join us on Thursday, December 10th at 7:30 PM by signing up for a parent meeting to talk about ways to ensure our kids can showcase their skills, and ways we can help our sixth graders get the special recognition and experience they deserve. Click here to register for the meeting. We look forward to seeing you there!
