As a special thank you to our Willow Springs teachers and staff, the PTA hosted an outdoor breakfast for the Fox Team last week. This was just a small gesture to give a big “Thank You” to our teachers and staff for all they do for our students. Shout out to Jasmine Liao-Schwake for chairing the event.

Help us show our hard-working teachers some love. PTA needs your help with an upcoming event. We are providing teachers with game bundles as an end of the year "thank you" and we need help with the bundle assembly. We still need volunteers for 5th, 6th, Reading, and STEAM. Students with or without prior chess experience are invited to join the VIRTUAL Willow Springs Chess Club. Club members will receive live online lessons with U.S. Chess Center teachers twice a week, allowing students to participate interactively in real-time. Additionally, they will play matches five times per week with FCPS students from Willows Springs and other schools. Students are placed in groups by the ability for chess lessons. Registration for the club is rolling—there is no official start date. However, no matter when you register, the discounted fee is $120 for online classes (use discount code "SUBC" at registration) that run through the end of January—so register soon!

Science Olympiad offers students the opportunity to improve their understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and work together to learn new skills. Virginia Science Olympiad (VASO) is a non-profit organization engaging and challenging students in these disciplines through team-based competitive tournaments in Virginia. Events are carefully chosen by the National Science Olympiad organization to reflect national educational standards and are changed or revised every year to allow students to learn new things. This year The Olympiad will be virtual.
If your child is interested in joining the team and more information, please fill out the Science Olympiad Division A Family Interest Form. Forms are due by 12/5.
Girl Scout Virtual Information Session Nov 30
The Girl Scouts are holding a new Scout information session on 11/30 for interested families. There will be opportunities for conversation around what the GS program looks like, chat with other WSES families, and explore scouting options for each girl. Open to families with a girl grade K-6. If families are interested in attending the meeting, please contact Elizabeth Wood at ewood@gscnc.org or express interest at bit.ly/girlscouts-54-14 to receive the Zoom link.
New this Year - Gingerbread House Contest

Begins November 30th
Enter your most creative gingerbread creations in the inaugural PTA Gingerbread House contest! Construct your house in any medium- food, Legos, a drawing- the possibilities are endless! The PTA will accept submissions November 30 to December 13.
To enter please send a photo of your creation along with your name and grade to the email: gingerbread@willowspringspta.net. Voting will take place December 14-18. The contest is open to K-6 AND teachers, with prizes for the winners. Start brainstorming now!
