2020-2021 Yearbook Cover Contest Now Open!

This school year is like none we’ve ever had before, but our Lane Lion spirit is as strong – or stronger – than ever! We are going to try to put together a yearbook this year, and we need a cover for it. We need your child’s help to capture our school spirit in art!

This year’s cover-art competition is open to all grade levels. An overall winner and grade-level winners will be selected. The overall winner’s work will appear full-size on the front cover of the 2020 – 2021 yearbook, which will be distributed at the end of the year. Grade-level winners’ works will appear in a reduced size on the back cover. You can find complete rules and submission requirements here

All entries must be received by email by Friday, December 11th. In the email, be sure to include the student’s name and teacher’s name.

AAP Level IV Screening Deadline - Tuesday, December 1st!

The deadline for Level IV AAP referrals is Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

Parents interested in having their child screened for Level IV AAP should fill out the parent referral form and (optional) parent questionnaire and submit them electronically to Lane’s Advanced Academic Resource Teacher, Linda Simon, at lesimon@fcps.edu. Please attach the parent referral form and optional parent questionnaire with your child’s first and last name as part of the file name, and include Lane ES in the email subject line.

Parents who were unable to attend the October 29 Level IV AAP Screening Process information meeting can view the recording here: https://us.bbcollab.com/recording/35a8ef84a5dd4123aecf48045891a782.
The slide presentation and parent forms are available in the AAP Virtual Classroom at https://sites.google.com/fcpsschools.net/aapvirtualclassroom/parent-info. Parents must be logged in to their child’s FCPS Google account to access the AAP Virtual Classroom.

Timeline Update: The announcement of the 2nd grade screening pool has been delayed pending decisions from recent school board work sessions. The screening pool list will not be announced prior to the December 1 referral deadline. ALL parents interested in having their child screened for Level IV should fill out a Level IV referral form to have their child screened for Level IV AAP services.

If you have questions, please contact Ms. Simon at lesimon@fcps.edu.
