Dear Shrevewood Community,
It's hard to believe that next week is Thanksgiving! This year has certainly been an unusual one with numerous challenges, and yet there is still so much to be thankful for. We are thankful for our wonderful staff whose dedication to our students makes a difference each and every day. We are also thankful for our supportive parent community and outstanding students. In times of challenge it is important to look for the joy, and we have plenty to be joyful about!
For those of you that sent messages of appreciation this week, it meant a great deal to the staff member who received that message. What a great way to express how THANKFUL you are for a SWES staff member! On behalf of all Shrevewood Elementary Staff, we appreciate you deeply.
Stay safe, healthy, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Joshua DeSmyter
Principal
For students who are returning for in-person learning, all families, must complete the Health Screening Commitment form prior to the first day of when your student will return.
Please email the Health Commitment Form to KMNaccarato@fcps.edu or drop off to the front office between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Again, we need the form prior to the student’s return to school.

Level IV referral forms for FCPS students in grades 2-7 are due electronically by December 1, 2020. The benchmark for the 2nd grade pool using NNAT3 scores has not yet been determined. You do not need to wait for the pool to be announced. To ensure your child is screened, submit a referral form. (The pool only applies to 2nd graders).
If your child is in grades 2-6 and you are interested in having him/her screened for Level IV (fulltime AAP) services, a referral must be submitted. Please visit FCPS website to access the Level IV Referral Form and the Parent Questionnaire or click the links below. Parents may submit the parent questionnaire and up to four one-page digital work samples (videos are not accepted) – these are optional.
Additional information regarding AAP Screening and Identification can be found by visiting the county website: https://www.fcps.edu/academics/academic-overview/advanced-academic-programs

As the holidays approach, we are reminded of those in our own community who need a little help this time of year. Please help us spread some Holiday Cheer! The PTA Outreach Committee is hosting a HOLIDAY DONATION DRIVE to distribute much-needed household items and gifts to some of the students/families in our Shrevewood Elementary School community. This year, we have 3 different ways to help with this effort:
1. Purchase items from the attached flyer and drop them off (unwrapped) by December 11 to the donation bin at the entrance to the school.
2. Click this link to our Shrevewood Holiday Donation Drive Wish List on amazon.com to purchase items that will ship directly to the school! (Please feel free to share the link on social media to spread the word to friends or family who may be willing/able to contribute!)
3. Make a cash donation via Paypal to shrevewoodptatreas@gmail.com to support this effort. Simply designate "Holiday Donation Drive" in your message, and your contribution will go toward the purchase of items needed to complete the holiday bags for families.
Thank you for your support-we love our Shrevewood students and families. (If you have any questions, please email darlenehowell@gmail.com. )
