Graham Road ES Updates

Dear Families,

The last couple of weeks have brought some highs and lows for our Graham Road community. After reshuffling classes and working tirelessly to prepare, we were excited to welcome our kindergarteners back into the school building for the first time! However, due to rising Covid-19 cases, our plans were placed on hold. This was disappointing for us all but we take comfort that our school district is prioritizing the health and safety of so many.

Plans to resume bringing more students back in the building are dependent upon the improvement of health conditions. All FCPS staff are watching the numbers of positive cases in our area closely. We will be communicating with kindergarten families as soon as we know more about when their return will be rescheduled. Students in grades 1 and 2 were scheduled to return to school on December 8th. Information with updates will be communicated directly to those families as well. At this time, we don’t have any additional information about how this pause will affect the proposed January return to school for grades three through six

There is no school on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday. My celebrations will be limited to my immediate family this year as the Badinis plan to adhere to the CDC guidelines for safe family gatherings. I am feeling incredibly grateful for this opportunity. Although it is hard at times, I encourage everyone to continue with the steps experts say can keep us all safe and save lives: wearing a mask, frequent hand washing and maintaining at least a six foot distance from those who do not live in your household. Taking these steps with vigilance gives us the best chance to get back to normal as soon as possible.

Please stay connected so you are informed as our operating plans and information changes rapidly. Please make sure your ParentVue accounts are activated and updated with accurate and current contact information, including email and phone numbers.

Take care and be safe. We continue to look forward to the day when we are all back together again!

Referral Window for Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) Level IV Screening Consideration Ends December 1

Tuesday, December 1 is the close of the window (Sept 8-Dec 1) for parents to submit a referral form for their student to be screened for full-time Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) Level IV. The parent referral form, submitted to the school, is one pathway to have a student screened for AAP Level IV. Parents should not wait for an announcement of the second grade screening pool if they want to make sure their students is screened for AAP in the coming screening cycle. Parents of students in grades 2-7 will need to submit the referral form by December 1.
