Belvedere News and Announcements

From the Administration

Dear Belvedere Family:

As you learned this week, the health metrics used to determine if it is safe for students to return to in-person instruction are above the established threshold, resulting in FCPS temporarily pausing the return of additional student groups to school.  We will keep you informed when this changes and when students can return for in-person instruction.

In the meantime, virtual instruction continues, and our staff is committed to ensuring all students have opportunities to grow as learners. As parents and caregivers, you are key players in the daily instructional life of the child.  If you notice your child struggling and needing additional support, whether academic or emotional, please reach out to your child’s teacher or to the school counselors. We want each one of our students to feel safe and to engage in learning each day.

As the pandemic stretches on, I reflect on what matters most in life, and I am thankful for the love and health of my family.  With Thanksgiving approaching, I hope you can find ways to connect with your loved ones and to take time to value the blessings you have. I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Best Regards,

Cecilia Vanderhye

Referral Window for AAP Level IV Screening Consideration Ends December 1

Tuesday, December 1 is the close of the window (Sept 8-Dec 1) for parents to submit a referral form for their student to be screened for full-time Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) Level IV. Full-time AAP Level IV services begin in grade 3.  The parent referral form, submitted to the school, is one pathway to have a student screened for AAP Level IV.

Parents should not wait for an announcement of the second grade screening pool if they want to make sure their student is screened for AAP Level IV in the coming cycle. Parents of students in grades 2-7 will need to submit the referral form by December 1 to our Advanced Academic Resource Teacher, Preshion Lynch, at pmlynch@fcps.edu and to Ms. Vanderhye at CVanderhye@fcps.edu.

Referrals will not be accepted after December 1. For more information about AAP Level IV or the screening process, please visit https://www.fcps.edu/academics/academic-overview/advanced-academic-programs.
