IMPORTANT Arrival and Dismissal Procedures:
In an effort to ensure a safe arrival and departure from the school building, we have made changes to where your child will enter the school building. Based on your child’s classroom location inside the building, your child will be assigned specific door entrance to arrive and depart from school. It is important for your child to arrive to school at their door location each day they are in school.
As a reminder, each child must arrive to school with a face mask and will have their temperature checked before entrance into the school building. A staff member will escort each child into the building, parents are not permitted in the building.
Arrival/Dismissal Entrance Points
- Bus riders – will arrive by bus at door #1, only bus riders will be entering through door # 1

Helpful Tips for Virtual Learners
We wanted to share some mindfulness tips to help parents support their students during distance learning. Bouncing back and forth between tasks when caring for children can be distracting and stressful, which is why doing a lot of things at the same time is not really in the spirit of mindfulness. Intentionally being more present, calm, and aware of the moment can help your student thrive.
- Before doing anything, STOP.
-
Stop, take a pause.
-
Take a few deep breaths to calm down.
-
Observe, notice, and pay attention with curiosity and acceptance to your thoughts and emotions.
-
Proceed to respond from a clear mental state.
- What can you do now?
-
Tip 1: Provide guidance - Give your child tools such as positive or funny desk calendars and other inspirational words of wisdom around them while they’re partaking in distance learning. These tools can be a focal point when they feel overwhelmed.
-
Tip 2: Make mindfulness tools - Making things like slime together or offering other stress relief tools (fidget spinners, stress balls, etc.) will destress your student and provide them with a mindfulness tool.
-
Tip 3: Have a daily journal or sketchbook - Have your student write or draw daily when distance learning sessions are over. They can write or draw what they loved and what they struggled with that day. Try to place an emphasis on focusing on what they enjoyed so that they can be more mindful of redirecting negative thought patterns each day during distance learning.

Bailey's Winter Coat and Holiday Gift Card Drive
Bailey's families have the opportunity to receive new winter coats, hats, and gloves for their children. If a parent requests a coat for their child, please instruct them to complete a Coat Referral Form (English) / Coat Referral Form (Spanish) no later than December 1st. Paper forms will also be available at Primary's meal distribution site.
First coat distribution will be held on November 16th.
Families also have the opportunity to be considered to receive gift cards to purchase food and gifts during the upcoming holiday season depending on donations.
If you are interested in donating to support these efforts, please visit the GO FUND ME page set up by Leila Nuland (former Bailey's parent) and Heather Mazen (current parent and PTA member). Distribution and delivery of the coats and gift cards will be done in collaboration with counselors and social workers from each school.
Please note that this is not a PTA sponsored fundraiser due to 501(c)(3) regulations and thus donations are not tax-deductible.

Parent/Student Tech Support Portal
To support families who are working with their children during distance learning, Fairfax County Public Schools is launching a new Parent Technology Help Desk. The number is 1-833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS). It will be answered by staff 7 a.m.to 11 p.m., seven days a week. If the help desk is unable to solve the issue on the phone with the parent or guardian, they will enter a ticket on the parent’s behalf and the request for help will be transferred to the appropriate FCPS team.
Parents or guardians who need help in a language other than English should let help desk staff know, and a interpreter will join them on the line. (FCPS also has existing parent information phone lines, available in eight different languages, that can assist with general questions about FCPS.)
FCPS has also set up an online portal to allow older students and parents and guardians to request technology help directly.
Get more information about the new Parent Technology Help Desk.
Tech Support at School
In preparation for students returning to the building, our NEW tech support hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9-10am. Please contact your student's teacher to make an appointment.
