Elementary Progress Reports

This year’s virtual start to the school year created some modifications to the way teachers marked the Qtr. 1 Elementary Progress Report.  Click here for the FCPS Elementary Progress Report Parent Information Document. This information provides guidance for understanding the marks and any modifications that have been made due to our current environment.

FCPS Walking Wednesdays

Ruby Bridges

Many of you may have heard of Walking Wednesdays as a new initiative for FCPS Safe Routes to School.  To normalize the school day, students and parents are invited to walk before their school day begins or after their school day ends.  This can be a walk around the block, to the bus stop or anywhere within your neighborhood. Click here for more information on FCPS Walking Wednesdays.

On Wednesday, November 18, Walking Wednesdays will celebrate Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day to honor the courage of Ruby Bridges’ historic walk as she was escorted by Federal Marshals to school each day starting on November 14, 1960.  That makes this year the 60th anniversary of her integrating New Orleans Public Schools.  This is a perfect opportunity to teach our students about the Civil Rights Movement and make connections to today’s collective efforts for change by encouraging them to take part in this Walking Wednesday!

Book Fair

TCES Online Book Fair 11/30 – 12/13

Dear Parents and Families:

We are working hard to keep kids reading and raise critical funds for our school library with our Scholastic Online Book Fair from 11/30/20- 12/13/20.

The Fair will connect your kids to notable books and inspiring characters—helping them become lifelong readers. Enjoy these special features:

  • A 360⁰ Interactive Virtual Fair that you can “walk through” to mimic the real magic of the school shopping experience
  • Terra Centre’s own online store, with a large selection of titles at the right price points and free shipping of all-book orders over $25 directly to your home
  • Browse by title, meet popular authors, and do it all from the comfort and safety of your home
  • Every dollar you spend using our special link during the fair window will benefit the school library directly (25% back) to allow us to purchase more books for everyone to enjoy.*

*Due to the unprecedented COVID-19 situation at the end of last year, people moving out of the area, and the disruption of the normal end of year procedures, we had over 600 borrowed books that were never returned at the end of last school year even after our curbside supply distribution and item return dates.   Your support of this book fair will be especially instrumental this year to help us recover from such a large loss of books and give us extra funds to replace missing items.

Thanks for your continued support of our school and the TCES library program!

We can’t wait to “see” you at the fair!
