This year, Chantilly Governor's STEM Academy has seven student teams competing in CyberPatriot, the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. The competition puts teams of high school students in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company. In the rounds of competition, teams are given a set of virtual images that represent operating systems and are tasked with finding cybersecurity vulnerabilities within the images and hardening the system while maintaining critical services. It is opportunity to practice real-life cyber professional skills. The students will virtually compete this week in the first of three rounds with thousands of other teams across the world. Students in the Veterinary Science course recently participated in a class-wide wildlife photography competition. The competition was a great way for students to get out into nature and show their connection to wildlife. Each student needed to show native/local wildlife in its habitat and capture the photo with respect to space and safety of all animals. The students all enjoyed the opportunity to get outside and make a connection with their wildlife unit covered in class.
