Celebrating Our Students!

Here is the first installment of our weekly recognition of students who are demonstrating excellence in academics, behavior or citizenship.

  • Graham Ingalls is a proactive, enthusiastic, participant in class. He is always eager to learn more, do more, share more, and makes distance learning something to look forward to! Megan McCabe
  • I had several students show up for office hours before an upcoming test. In a virtual setting, it was a bit difficult to manage everyone's questions. Carolyn Auld saw one student ask a question on something she understood and offered to go into a breakout group to help that student while I helped others. A few other students ended up joining her breakout group. She was an excellent co-teacher for the office hours!! I know her peers appreciated her help, but I think I appreciated it even more :) Mary Veach
  • Samantha Johnson sometimes comes to my office hours just to "hang out". There have been a few times where I've gotten a bit overwhelmed with trying to manage the amount of students in there that need my help. I've called on Samantha to help me out in those times - she didn't sign up for it but I know I can trust her and she always does it willingly! At least I assume she's smiling on the other side of the camera ;) Mary Veach
  • Melanie Perez Ramirez consistently joins our class on time and stays engaged even when technology glitches try to interfere with her determination. Liz Johnson
  • Fatima Barrera Gamez is consistently in class and works from bell to bell. She will help translate lessons and understanding to her peers. Liz Johnson
  • Cristian Escoto Garcia works consistently to do his best in class and stay connected at the same time. He helps translate lessons and understanding to his peers. When technology struggles occur, he works on paper or offers to be a scribe for our shared answer key. Liz Johnson
  • Alex Obando uses his time wisely in class, has strong collaborative skills in class and in office hours. He is determined to learn new skills both academically and POG skills necessary for the 21st century. Liz Johnson
  • Thanh Bui always comes to Advisory in good spirts and ready to participate in our advisory lesson and never forgets to fill in Monday's attendance form. Thanh is a positive influence in our Advisory class. Liz Johnson

College Night for Spanish Speaking Families (Open to all grade level parents)

November 10, 2020 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

We are excited to have representatives from United for Justice Organization and The Dream Project.  Each will speak on how parents can support students through the college process.  USJ is a non-profit organization in the DMV area whose mission is to enable more low-income and at-risk-first-generation college bound students access higher education.  The Dream Project empowers students whose immigration status creates barriers to higher education. Both community-based programs have a wealth of information and resources to share with our families.
