 The After-School Program will be hosting the AMC 8 competition this year as the test has gone virtual! The test will take place after-school on Tuesday, November 10th. The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. The AMC 8 provides an opportunity for middle school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers. Students apply classroom skills to unique problem-solving challenges in a low-stress and friendly environment.
Since this test will be administered virtually, a parent/guardian or other responsible adult must be available to proctor on November 10th from 2:30-3:30 pm. There will be no make-ups if you are not available on November 10th.
Spaces are limited in this activity and participants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Spaces are only open to FCPS middle school students in the Western Fairfax After-School network. The sign-up link will be posted on the After-School page of Lanier Student Central (see screenshot above).
