Daylight Savings Time Ends Sunday
Remember to set your clocks back an hour at 2:00 am on Sunday, November 1. The time will go back to 1:00 am. You might get an "extra" hour of sleep that day but it will also begin to get darker earlier in the day.

Learning Seminar Overview for the week of 11/2
Next week in Learning Seminar, we will be making a change in how our lessons will be created. Up until now, there has been a small committee of support staff authoring the weekly lessons. Starting on Wednesday, we’ll be implementing evidence-based Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons from Second Step. Second Step has been in the SEL game for a long time. Our students will be presented lessons covering 4 units: Mindsets & Goals; Recognizing Bullying and Harassment; Thoughts, Emotions, & Decisions; and Managing Relationships & Self Conflict. From Second Step: Second Step Middle School is a first-of-its-kind social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum that’s modern, web-based, and responsive to the needs of today’s students and educators. It’s underpinned by the latest research in adolescent brain development and social psychology. The result is a program that doesn’t just help kids do better in school—it helps them do better in life.
Conversation starter at home: Ask your child what they thought of the new format for Learning Seminar lessons. Any feedback you’d like to share with us is always appreciated.
PTA Updates
- Twain PTA wants to sincerely thank all who took part in the Twain Spirit Night at Chipotle-Kingstowne on October 13. We will be receiving $523.45 from Chipotle!! THANK YOU!!
- The November Twain Spirit Night is at Panera Kingstowne, Thursday, November 12 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm. Treat yourself to another night out and help support the Twain PTA and local restaurants at the same time!
- Because of our members' support, the Twain PTA was able to provide Chick-fil-A lunches to working Teachers and Staff on October 12 while the students were off for a holiday. Your PTA dues and support help us keep the spirit going in our Twain family. Please help us by joining the PTA and attending the Twain Spirit Nights at local eateries. - The PTA online Student Pumpkin Carving Contest was a success and the Twain PTA is asking for your suggestions for future online events to hold this year for our Staff and Students. Please fill out the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/89PSSQ9 by Friday, Nov 6.
- The next PTA meeting will be Tuesday, Nov 17 at 7:00 pm via Zoom.
