Beyond the Page Theatre Presents:  The Hitchhiker, October 31st, all day on YouTube -  

WP families gather around this All Hallows' Eve and be prepared to be mesmerized by the award-winning Beyond the Page Company’s newest production. The Hitchhiker is a radio play for all written by Lucille Fletcher in 1941. This spooky story will transport you back to the golden age of radio. We hope you’ll hitch a ride and tune in to the WP Theater Youtube channel. on October 31st!

West Potomac’s Outstanding Employee Awards - Nominations are now open!

Parents, guardians and students – please take a moment to recognize an outstanding WP employee by completing the nomination form found here at this link  in any of the categories listed below. 

All nominations must be submitted by 3pm on Thursday, November 5, 2020If your nominee is selected, you may be contacted to complete a nomination packet for the next level of the competition. Please contact Emily Millians at eemillians@fcps.edu with questions.

 

Outstanding New Teacher - Has 1-3 years of teaching experience in any school/district.

Outstanding Teacher - Has 4 or more years of teaching experience in any school/district. Librarians are included in this category.

Outstanding Professional Employee - Has worked at least one year in a non-instructional position that supports school leadership. Ex. School-Based Technology Specialist, Technology Support Specialists, System of Support Advisor, On Time Graduation Coordinator, Dean of Students, Dean of Instruction, Assessment Coach, Career Center Specialist, Instructional Coach, Psychologists, Social Workers, School Counselors, and the Safety and Security Specialist.

Outstanding Operational Employee - Has at least 1 year of experience in their current position. This category includes Office Staff, Safety and Security Assistants, Custodians, Food Service Staff, IAs, PHAs, PHTAs, and Parent Liaisons.

Outstanding Leader - Has worked at least one year in an administrative position other than principal.

PTSA Meeting – November 9thPlease join us for our membership meeting on Monday, November 9th, 6:30pm via Zoom and Facebook Live.  Ms. Carter from our College and Career Center (CCC) will be joining us along with a current college admissions professional to take your questions about college prep, the app process, COVID effects, etc. Please be sure to read the CCC monthly newsletters and look over the many resources on the West Po CCC web site https://westpotomachs.fcps.edu/student-services/college-and-career-center. First Quarter Academic Recognition – The PTSA will recognize the All A Honor Roll, All A/B, and Rising Stars students from the First Quarter.  We are finalizing plans. Please be assured that no matter what the learning scenarios our students must deal with we will continue to recognize student academic achievement and hard work.  Thanks to your membership and donations, as well as our corporate sponsors and fundraisers, we can continue to support and recognize our hard-working students.

SAT and ACT Test Prep

 

NEW SELF-DIRECTED CLASSES OFFERED THIS YEAR ($125.00) -The test prep program is offering self-directed online test prep created by Applerouth. This is an excellent course that covers all the content offered through the usual group class as well as tips and strategies for the official tests. Mock test results provide a solid study guide. Applerouth tutors are available to assist self-directed students with any questions during the course. One mock test is included in the self-directed class. Class licenses expire 7/31/21.
