Important Advanced Academics Screening Information:

  • *FCPS STUDENTS* Referrals for AAP Level IV screening will be collected between September 8 through December 1, 2020 (FCPS students _Grades 2-6)
  • Referral forms are emailed to the Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART) and principal at the local school. The email will count as a digital signature for the referral. 
  • Note: Referrals will not be accepted past December 1, 2020. A deadline of December 1, 2020 gives local schools time to organize and submit screening portfolios to the central office.

Mrs. Fisher, our Advanced Academics resource teacher will host two meetings to provide information about Advanced Academics.

Our first meeting will be held on November 11th at 9:00 am, with a focus on the continuum of AAP services across K-12. This meeting will help clarify leveled services offered in FCPS.

Our second meeting will be held on November 12th at 6:00 pm, with a focus of the screening and identification process for full-time, Level IV services. This meeting will clarify the steps taken through a Level IV referral.

**Informational slides for both the continuum of AAP services across K-12 AND the screening and identification process for full-time, Level IV services will be accessible from our CFES website.

Library Book Pickup

We still have many books that waiting to be picked up! If your child requested books, please feel free to come by the school to pick them up.  Our library is bursting with some great new titles so don't forget to complete your virtual check out for November!


Positivity Project

We are excited to continue the Positivity Project at Cardinal Forest.  This week our classes will be exploring the character trait Creativity. We encourage you to go to the Family Resources page to learn more.

Eating Disorders Speaker

Join us on Tuesday, November 10 at 7:00 PM for a virtual presentation on eating disorders in adolescents. Eating disorders are the number one mental health problem affecting girls ages 10-18, but they can affect both boys and girls of all ages. Learn about what to look for and how to help your children to have a positive body image and peaceful relationship with food.
