10/23 Shrevewood Wise Words

custodians

Hello Shrevewood Families,

This week our PTA purchased jackets for our amazing custodial crew. Our custodians have been working tirelessly to make sure our building is ready for our small cohort of students transitioning into the building next week. Thank you to the PTA for collaborating with us to help our custodians feel appreciated!

We are thrilled to welcome our first cohort of students back to the building starting on Monday, October 26. For more information about the Phased In Plan for Return to School, please follow this link to the School Board presentation made on Thursday, October 15. Here is the link to the recording of Dr. Brabrand’s Town Hall held on Monday, October 19 with a focus on the Return to School.  As information develops, I will be sure to share the Shrevewood specific updates with the our community.

Sincerely,

Joshua DeSmyter

Principal

Forms Needed for Every Student

If you have not already done so, please complete the following FCPS forms that we need for all students. Forms can be completed electronically and submitted scanned and emailed to  ShrevewoodElem.Attendance@fcps.eduor drop it by the front office between 9-3.

Health Information and Emergency Care Forms

The Health Information Form and the Emergency Care Information form  provide valuable information regarding student health conditions. These forms are critical in the early identification of students who may need healthcare support in the educational environment. Along with the development of Healthcare Plans and Action Plans, the Public Health Nurses utilize the information contained to develop teaching strategies for FCPS staff in order to meet the requirements of Regulation 2104 Health Services-School Health Related Needs.

SR&R Parent Acknowledgement Form

Parents and guardians, please review the Student Rights and Responsibilities and related resources at www.fcps.edu/srr. After reviewing the information, fill out the SR&R Parent Acknowledgement Form using this link we have provided.  The form must be filled out one time per student.Printed copies of the Family Guide as well as the translated version of the document will not be available until October.

As the school year begins virtually, it is important to remember these forms are required for all students for SY 20-21 and are available for electronic submission by parents via their FCPS 24/7 (Blackboard) accounts within the weCare@school (weCare) module.

Advanced Academics

Shrevewood hosted a Virtual Information Night about Advanced Academics on Monday evening.  Click on the link to listen to the presentation!  AAP Parent Information Night.

Everyone is welcome to participate - Special Education will join the night of their grade level. Links to join online sessions will be provided before the event. And, while costumes are optional, they're certainly encouraged!

Each trivia session will be grade-specific. Mark your calendars and join in with your classmates per the schedule below:

Digital Progress Reports

The “Go Paperless” option is now available to all ES parents to allow them to only receive online progress reports starting the first quarter of SY 20/21. This will not impact any other mailings from FCPS other than the progress reports for ES students and report cards for secondary students. To take advantage of the paperless options, parents and/or guardians will need to log into ParentVUE, then go to “My Account” and select "Go Paperless" All parents and/or guardians who live with the student and share the same address must have a SIS ParentVUE account and must select the paperless option to prevent mailing of the printed progress reports. The “Go Paperless” option will apply to all their associated students, no matter what school level. If the associated parent and/or guardian has already selected “Go Paperless” for their secondary student, the option will now apply to any ES siblings as well.
