New attendance procedure
When you call the attendance line, please include:
- Be specific about the reason why your child will not be attending school today
- Please indicate whether your child has any of the following symptoms:
- Feeling feverish or chills
- Fever greater than or equal to 100.4 F
- Headache (not due to another health condition, hunger, menstrual cramps stress, or injury)
- A new cough (not due to another health condition)
- Shortness of breath or breathing difficulties (not due to diagnosed respiratory condition or if different than normal pattern of chronic condition)
- A new sore throat (not due to another health condition)
- Congestion or runny nose (not related to allergies or health condition)
- Fatigue (more tired than normal or sudden onset)
- New muscle pain (not due to another health condition or that may have been caused by a specific activity such as physical exercise))
- New loss of taste, smell, or appetite
- Abdominal pain (not due to hunger, constipation, injury, or stress)
- Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
PSAT:
- This next Thursday, October 29th is the PSAT Day for all 11th graders in FCPS. For students who have registered for the PSAT.
- It is an Asynchronous Learning day for all FCPS High School students not taking the PSAT. No classes will meet on this day. Your students’ teachers will direct them where to access their work in either Google Classroom or Blackboard 24/7.

Computer Reboots -- Important
IT has let us know that many, many student computers have not been rebooted in many weeks. This prevents software, patches, and updates from being installed. Which also will impact online learning. Please have your students restart computers on a regular basis (we suggest once a week at a minimum). It will also be helpful for the laptop to “connect to the mothership”. All that your student needs to do is to go to the nearest school parking lot and log in then reboot once or twice. This will also reduce automatic restarts of computers during the instructional day.
Digital Consent Form
Parents, we need you to give consent for Cedar Lane to use various digital platforms (includes the Desmos calculator) for student engagement and learning while we are distance learning. Yearbooks still available
If you did not yet get your Covid19 collector’s edition of last year’s yearbook, there are still a few copies left if you act now! It is $35 for a 72 pages of full color fun. Contact Ms. Blakemore at arblakemore@fcps.edu to order your copy.
Senior Photos
This information is for Cedar Lane Seniors who plan to Graduate in 2021.
If you wish to have a Senior portrait taken to be included in the Cedar Lane Yearbook, please schedule a date listed below through the toll-free number provided. Seniors must schedule this appointment on their own and provide their own transportation to the site of the Lifetouch photography location in Annandale. If Seniors wish to have their photo placed in their base school yearbook, they will need to request that Lifetouch forward the photo to the school, and then check with the school to request their photo be included in that base school’s yearbook.
There are currently no plans to have a Senior Photo Day at Cedar Lane School due to the current distance learning situation. Please contact me, your case worker, or your clinician, if you have any questions about Senior photos.

Welcome Back to School! We hope each of you is staying healthy and safe as we head into the Fall!
We have exciting News! This year we are moving all of our forms and sign ups ONLINE! Your support is crucial to our mission of helping to provide the school with the resources it needs to help each child be successful! You can help in 2 ways:

College Bootcamp 2020
