News from Bailey's
We would like to introduce and welcome our Interim Principal Augie Frattali and new Assistant Principal, Jillian Bell. Our AP, Teresa Davis, retired at the end of September and Mirna Galeano is still a part of our administrative team as the other Assistant Principal. Welcome Jillian, jmbell@fcps.edu and Augie, affrattali@fcps.edu
FCPS and the FCPS School Board have indicated that students will begin to return to the school buildings. We have successfully welcomed our preschool special education students this week and some K-2 students with special education services return next week.
Our PreK and Kindergarten students will return to the building during the week of November 16 and 1st and 2nd grade the week of November 30. Please be on the lookout for additional information from FCPS and Bailey’s next week and in the weeks after regarding returning to school.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Welcome Ms. Jillian Bell
Ms. Bell started her career in 2000 in the inner city of Albany, NY at a Title I school with a 98% free and reduced population where I taught both 5th and 3rd grade. After 6 years, she made her move here to Northern Virginia. Her FCPS career started at Brookfield Elementary School where she taught 5th and 2nd grades from 2006-20019. Then she moved to Daniels Run Elementary for the 2019-2020 school year teaching 2nd grade and received her master’s in Education Leadership in May of 2020 from George Mason University. While at Brookfield Elementary she was named the FCPS Teacher of the Year.
She has a strong focus on building relationships with students, staff, and families. She works closely with colleagues to find new and innovative ways to support our children and their families. She has also mentored new teachers and been a teacher leader in a variety of settings in her various roles.
Please help us in welcoming Ms. Bell to Bailey’s!

Virtual Storytelling
Arts Integration Family Night
Join storyteller Stuart Stotts for an evening of stories and tips about bringing the art of storytelling into your homes.
Last year Stuart worked with teachers at Bailey’s to help make storytelling an important part of the classroom. But it’s not just for schools. Stories are a kind of glue that bring families closer through laughter, memory, and listening. We all tell stories; we just need to make space to listen and tell together. Join us for an online gathering that promises to be fun and inspiring, and filled with stories. Children welcome!

Bailey's Winter Coat Drive
Believe it or not, cold weather is right around the corner! Bailey's Primary and Bailey's Upper will be offering families the opportunity to receive new winter coats, hats, and gloves for their children beginning in mid-November. If you would like to request winter gear for your child, please complete this online Coat Referral Form (English) / Coat Referral Form (Spanish) no later than December 1st. Paper forms will also be available at Primary's meal distribution site the week of October 26th. Families also have the opportunity to be considered to receive gift cards to purchase food and gifts during the upcoming holiday season.
Garden Assistance Needed
Dear Bailey’s Families,
If you have walked through the school grounds lately, you might have noticed that there are many new raised beds. Many thanks to the Scout Troops who built and installed the structures. The purpose of these beds is to allow us to have an extensive variety of plants for Monarch butterflies and other pollinators. Before the beds are filled, they require a bit of loving care in the form of weeding. If your family is interested in assisting with this effort, please contact our Science Resource Teacher, Mr. Misch, ffmisch@fcps.edu.
