Yearbook Cover Design Contest
Entries Due by 10/30
All Franconia students are invited to participate in this year's yearbook cover design contest.
For an introduction to the contest, here's a video to watch - https://youtu.be/mswLNhc6tTE.
Please use a white 8 x 11 sheet of paper and colored pencils. The paper should not be lined paper and it should not be 3-hold punched.
On the back of the paper provide the following information:

This year's yearbook theme is: Mustangs in the Virtual World.
The cover design should be related to the theme. Please include Franconia Elementary 2020-2021 on the cover and remember to check your spelling!
Designs are due by Friday, October 30.
There are 2 ways to submit your cover for the contest:

OR
Drop your artwork off at Franconia Elementary:
- during the week of October 26 - October 30

- park in front lot and ring the buzzer --> someone inside will give you instructions on what to do with submission
- please do not drop it off prior to that week or outside of those times
Good luck!
Update from the Art Room
Greetings Franconia Elementary Families,
I want to provide information on the accessibility of art resources in Schoology, the best way to reach me, ways students can submit their work, and to remind families of the materials/supplies necessary for art as we continue online learning.
Logon Best Practices:
Communication
- You can reach me through the mail tool in Schoology or by emailing me directly at JMNawrot@fcps.edu.
- When using the Schoology mail tool, students can write text, attach files and images, record audio, and record video. This tutorial video shows how: https://youtu.be/QJKc-W5MhpY.
Submitting Work
- To date, artwork has mostly been viewed and assessed within synchronous sessions as much as possible.
- For students in grades K-2, parents and caregivers are asked to assist with submitting pictures or videos of their art in the weekly albums within the “Class Work” section of the Art Schoology page.
- Students in grades 3rd - 6th will need to start submitting work online as we move forward (5th and 6th grade have already been doing this).
- Students grades 3 through 6 will need to check the Art Schoology page or their calendar in Schoology to see which assignments require submission.
- Please watch this tutorial video https://youtu.be/Bd2yKBplsOk to learn how to view and complete assignments in Schoology.
Extra Support
- If your child expresses a need for extra support with art assignments, please email me (JMNawrot@fcps.edu) with questions.
- If your child would like to meet synchronously, please email a request to meet with me. Please include your child’s full name and their teacher’s name. I will then be able to create a session and schedule a Monday meeting.
Art Supplies
- Some of the supplies listed on the Franconia's School Supply List were added specifically for art.
- It is very important for students to come to art class fully prepared with the proper supplies.
- In the home, consider setting up a space for art class that has all art supplies readily on hand.
- If your child attends an out-of-your-house care center, consider creating a portable bin of art supplies they can take with them so they are prepared for art class.
- If you aren't sure when your child has art class, please contact their teacher.
Thank you so much for your time and support as we all experience learning in a very new and different way. Please reach out to me directly if you have any further questions about the above information or about art in general.
Sincerely, Mr. Jacob Nawrot
