Attendance Matters

Attendance drives everything! It is tied to almost every aspect of school performance and future outcomes. Please visit the Falls Church High School website attendance page for updated policies and procedures.

A note about Monday attendance:

Please remember that while there is no bell schedule on Mondays, attendance is still required. Students are responsible for logging in to their 4th period/Advisory teacher’s Google Classroom and completing the Google attendance form posted by the teacher between 8:10 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. in order to be marked present.

Consider that students who frequently miss school:

  • Have lower financial security
  • Develop delinquent patterns that may lead to adult criminal behaviors
  • Are more likely to engage in risky behavior like substance abuse or gang activity
  • Are subject to school consequences such as loss of privileges or suspension

Report Card Information

Action Requested: Help save trees and FCPS $$ on postage by opting in to receive “Paperless” Report Cards (that can be printed through ParentVUE)

Parents/Guardians may opt into “Go Paperless” for report cards by following the below instructions:

Parents/Guardians can take advantage of the paperless option, by logging into ParentVUE, then going to “My Account” and selecting "Go Paperless!". This is the only way to keep a paper report card from being generated for students at the secondary level. All parents who share the same address as the student must have a SIS ParentVUE account and must select the paperless option.

For those that do not opt to go Paperless, we’ll be mailing the report card home the week of November 16, 2020.

FCHS Spotlight Theatre Company presents

THE INVISIBLE MAN by John de Lancie

The following was written by Lilian Smith (grade 9)

Tune in to this immersive audio experience full of mystery and suspense!

October 30 & 31 at 7PM on the airwaves!  The password protected audio link will be posted on our website www.fchsdrama.org

This story is great and appropriate for the Halloween season!

Starring: William Clock (12) as Dr. Kemp, Jack Child (12) as The Inspector, Laurel Gilbert (12) as Mrs.Hall, Trip Jones (12)  as Teddy, Allison McCombs (12) as Rebecca, and Nico Andino (12) as Griffin

Due to COVID-19 our remarkable student Thespians are unable to perform on stage. However, we’ve found ways to work around all that. After all...THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

The Invisible Man is a story about a science experiment gone terribly wrong. In the story young scientist Griffin comes upon a formula that makes him invisible! Come to the show to hear what happens when Griffin risks everything to get the cure! Will Griffin do whatever it takes? Join us on the airwaves (www.fchsdrama.org) to find out. Experience “radio” as people once did around the 1930s. Full of music and sound effects, you’ll keep wondering what will happen next!

Get your tickets today through the following link:  event.etix.com/ticket/e/1015458

On the morning of your show date, you will receive an email from eademarco@fcps.edu with a password to get into the show!

This is a two-nights-only engagement. All proceeds will go to support The Falls Church High School Theatre department. Thank you for your support!

Would you like some SNACKS the evening of the performance?  FCHS Drama Boosters will sell on our website and deliver it (contact free) to your door!  Please check out our website this coming week and order by October 24th for timely delivery!

SEEDFOLKS AUDITIONS, October 26 and 27!

SEEDFOLKS:  A spoken musical by Paul Fleishman

My hope is that the students with diverse backgrounds who might have been shy to get up in front of people to perform before the pandemic, will be willing to lend their voices to a story about a young Vietnamese girl who plants seeds to honor her dead father in her urban neighborhood. As the neighbors see her garden grow, they too decide to sow some of their own seeds and share their stories.

Please see the link to audition for SEEDFOLKS, a week from Monday, Oct 26.  They don’t have a monologue prepared? No problem.  They don’t know what a monologue is?  I’ll teach them!  I’d like students to come with a story to tell.  It can be what happened to them over the last six months or even before that.

As soon as they fill out the form (below), I will add them to the Spotlight Theatre Company google classroom.  All auditions are on google meet.

https://forms.gle/uVrcFHb3jaDyZ9sB6

Have them check what time they would like to meet with me (two minute meeting) in the form.  It also asks for email and cell phone.

Call backs happen Oct 27 and include reading from the script (please email eademarco@fcps.edu for a copy).  All students should have a copy of the script to help them with callbacks.
